This was yesterday while he was in the egg and I was freaking out about what to do. Last night at 4 in the a.m. my cat had somehow reached through the bars, into the box, pulled the box over to where he could reach it, and took the shell out that was in there with the chick. I was horrified to...
Thanks to all the info on here I was able to hatch one so far.... he's up and chirping a lot today, all dried out and fluffy! I will try to post a photo soon. I have to watch for the other 4 but not sure how they'll do. I used a heat lamp and warm wash cloths and the power of staring at him...
O.K.,
I got a couple of hours research in here now.... The first one is almost finished hatching ( I think) he's only got about a thread left... he's not lifting up his head but he's peeping. I don't know what to do about the fact that his feathers are looking stiff, ( is he too dried out?)...
What do I do? I have to find out what to do if I broke the membrane ( if I broke it) upon helping my abandoned chicks out of the egg. I thought they were goners as she had left them for 2 days to tend to the hatchlings..... I brought them in, warmed them up and peeked inside... I only...
Please help.. I read your post but unfortunately yesterday I probably screwed everything up.... The eggs were abandoned 4 days after the others hatched. Today's day 5. They could possibly be the other hen's eggs but there are chicks in them. They are in my house under a heat lamp now... I...
Mine are in the same boat right this minute... I removed a tiny piece of membrane from over his nostrils hours ago and he's fine....
Just don't pull him out of the shell, you will notice his stomache still needs to absorb the sac and if that tears before he absorbs it, he will die.
My Old English game hen hatched 4 chicks 4 days ago and left the nest so the other 5 eggs are abandoned.... After I realized she was off the nest I brought the eggs in and checked them out. Here's the bad part, I heard peeping so I GENTLY opened a tiny hole without breaking the egg sac and...
Definately doing it at night. She's cool if we hold the chicks and all, I just meant afterwards... don't want to depress the poor gal.
Thank you so much for the reply.
