Question folks...just curious since i get many different information about commercial chicken farm. not vaccines...but does anyone know if these commercial chicken farm uses antibiotics shots in all store bought chickens? some people say they do...some say they don't. I know from reading...

I guess every chicken grower needs to find the right balance to keep the chicken safe but also keep it free-range. For me...i like to keep it cage but move the coop daily I guess for me my thought it keep moving it so they are clean and they are not covered in poop like those commercial...

i am not sure....but it could be sudden death syndrome. It is more common in broiler chickens since they grow so fast but it happens to all chickens. Usually SDS, just happen so quickly in healthy looking birds with no real explanation.

so where do you get the pure breeds? If all / most of them don't sell the pure breeds... I guess i buy all my chicks from the hatchery so i had believed them all this time. They mix...some darker and some lighter. What does that mean?

Could I ask why every feed is saying soy free? Is Soy bad for chickens? I been making my own feed from Soy (get it free from a nearby tofu factory) they seem fine and they seem to get bigger than just regular feed alone.

My bird is about 10 weeks now, seems like they are packing the weight. Does anyone here process the chicken later than 7 weeks? Seems like everyone is processing at 7 weeks. I was thinking 12 week...is that too late?
