Found a dead hen on the nest :(

If I get a 10 day old chick, plus or minus a day, and she doesn't accept it will she hurt it, if its placed in the enclosure with her and her current chick? I made a separate corral for her.

First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

Hello everyone. My hen went broody on 4 eggs. Three hatched. One died of a peck wound. One got sick and died on day 8, it never ate or drank food. The last one is healthy and 11 days old. It's the only chick. Should I add another chick or two for it? Would that be safe?

She was clearly dead but looked as if she fell asleep on her eggs and never got up. I'm so sad. Wish I could have prevented this. Any ideas? I'm new to raising chickens; 9 months...
