My new little loves!! *New pics added*

Quote: No, not yet. The guy said they were 4-6w old. I'm thinking more 6w old.... well 7w old now. How long before they're laying do you think? Quaillady- I've never heard of British range, is that a rare color? Do they not perch? I have a perch in there and they don't even glance at it.

My new little loves!! *New pics added*

These are the 6 I got a few days ago! They're 5-6w old. They are SOOOOOO docile! The kids hold them and they snuggle in their hands. TOO cute! Here are some pics. I have a sheer fabric, as you can see, draped just under the top of the cage just in case they decide to boink up. So far, not much...

What do coturnix like to eat?

I cut up a nice juicy dark red tomato and they LOVED it! Def going to get them some dark greens like kale/spinach etc. The grocery store sometimes has them on quick sale because they are soon to expire..... they'd eat it in a day anyway! Going to post pics in a new thread......

What do coturnix like to eat?

Quote: I buy flax seed at Whole Foods in the bulk section by the lb and it's CHEAP. I normally grind it and put a tsp in my granola cereal. Can they eat it ground? We gave them some apples today and they did like picking at it. We're not growing for size per se.... we mostly want them as...

What do coturnix like to eat?

Outside of feed, what are some veggies or fruit that they like to eat? I know that meal worms are fun, but will they like them at 6w old?

    Looking into getting quail....

Thanks so much for the info! We ended up with 6 coturnix females (at least, I'm pretty sure I have 6 since I used coloring to identify them). They are about 6w old. I'll have to take some pics tomorrow and have everyone help me figure out what colors they are.

    Looking into getting quail....

Thanks for the help! I have been reading about the coturnix for the last few hours. Looks like a good option for us. Could you keep them indoors? I have a huge 52" dog crate that I am going to use and go around it with hardware cloth and elevate it on a table. I just don't have much in the way...
