Not like you need another person in here, but I was pleasantly surprised when the third picture popped up and I was like "Ah yes, definitely a cockerel." He's a slow grower, but he's cute!!
What breed of sheep are you lambing? I've been considering getting some just for fiber & pets but this thread is reminding me a lot of school. Disbudded a measly 5 kids today at work and somehow missing those overnight lamb watches
Had a nice big spring clean of the coop while I visited home and felt soooo nostalgic for taking care of the girls. I miss having birds all the time! At least the neighbors down the street have some. Now that it's finally getting warm again, I can walk down the road and look at their pretty...
Just incredible. Could not imagine a single better way to put this; very thoroughly explained so that even the newest chicken owner can understand. I really appreciate how the author pointed out how normal and healthy the pecking order is, and how swiftly it can change. And I loved the tidbit...
Adorable!!! Congratulations on the new little cutie!!
Haha, wild water is great! Every time I dump my girls' water to clean it while they're out of the coop, they come racing to drink the delicious mud puddles that form after the fact. Some of them wash it down with the nice clean water I put...
Wow, you have officially inspired me to add Double Silver Laced Barnevelders to my dream breeds list. You have gorgeous birds!!! I have always been such a big fan of Dark Brahmas (silver penciling?) and this is such an enhanced version of that look. Thanks for sharing!! :wee
I mean, I kind of get it because he's purely hatching an amount based on the likes he gets... and then giving them all away to a sanctuary. Hatching just for hatching's sake, then throwing the burden of all those animal's lives on someone else. For a video. Not the best.
But immoral for someone...
Coccidia produces mainly bloody stool not green and I'd be worried about throwing a medication at them they might not even need right now. The white parts in chicken droppings are urates which are basically concentrated urine-- so a total lack of them in droppings would indicate dehydration...
She'll be fine. I've done the same thing before I learned the Q-tip trick! Just a tiny amount of course. She looks adorably goofy. Blue-Kote is super annoying to deal with, but I had a bully hen who'd peck anyone with an injury... so...
We've always used painter tarps around the run, then we put up a big canvas blanket (which is again for painting lol) at night around areas of ventilation (human door, coop door, and the vents at the top of the roof.) It works pretty well for our girls!
Happy vet tech week to you from a fellow tech :highfive: I'm so jelly your clinic treats chickens!
So sorry you're experiencing that though... it's incredibly frustrating when people think they know more than you. Especially because of friggin Dr. Google. :barnie
