Okay, thanks for everyone's opinions. If she lays a nice dark brown egg someday maybe that will give an indication of whether she's a Maran or not.

    Cuckoo Maran or BR

Well, I went out and took pictures today and just tried to download them and they disappeared. I'll try again tomorrow. I can say this, the back of her legs and the bottom of her feet are the same color as between her toes in the picture on the first post. I would say the color is what I'd...

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I'll try to post some more pictures tomorrow. She does have a single comb and I do not see any yellow in her legs. I'll be sure to take pictures of the underside of her feet.

    Cuckoo Maran or BR

This little butterball is six weeks old today. She's supposed to be a Barred Rock pullet but her legs are grayish black. My other BR pullet has yellow legs with a splash of gray down the front of her legs. Is she actually a Cuckoo Maran? She is a pullet, correct?

snugglepup: No, there's no gators in the pond, although there are turtles. It is also stocked with Bluegill, Catfish, Bass and Tilapia. Also, some brown water snakes that many people mistaken for water moccasins. Will chickens drink from the pond?

Thanks again to all that commented. bantymum: Thanks for the suggestion on moving the coop. Actually, we were able to move the coop rather easily by putting several pieces of PVC (3/4") pipe under one end of the coop and then pulling it using a dolly/hand truck. It glides over the PVC pipe...

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. bamagirl68: I originally wanted to get five pullets just prior to egg laying age, but have been unsuccessful in finding anything but a bunch of mixed breeds in this area. So, plan B is to purchase the breeds that I want from a hatchery. I have an order...
