    Bare behind.

I removed one on my roo, it didn't seem to hurt him. As long as you look up some instruction and sanitize your instruments. You will see a big lump under the skin and it will be hot in the area if there is a stuck feather.

    Bare behind.

I can see the pics. I had two things potentially happen with my bird that had a red butt. My roo (who passed last year) had been stressed and picked on by an evil male guinea, who was trying to mate with him. He may have been a silent carrier for Mareks disease and it never showed up until after...

Goats getting pregnant later than when initially bred?!

So far nothing. I did try some Dollar Tree pregnancy tests, lol. They were negative, not that I was totally depending on those to be accurate. We tried stethoscoping the girls. I could not hear anything. My nubian was trying to mount the boer today in the yard...going to keep a watch on her for...

    Boy or Girl

These are my chicks from a few years back. I had a barred rock cockerel and a barred rock hen. The cockerel is in the front. The hen, you can barely see her, she is in the back, black head next to the waterer. The cockerel has definite white barring, where the hens will be more black.

    Farm innovations 4250 incubator

For awhile, I had a burnt up motor on my egg turner, so I quit using it. So I would attempt to turn eggs and try to make sure the pointy end was a bit lower that the round end. I pointed all the eggs in the same direction. I had a really good hatch rate that time around. BUT I don't think...

Take them out of the egg turner. I put down that non skid shelf liner that has holes in it and put the eggs on that.

Goats getting pregnant later than when initially bred?!

My friend was saying that sperm could live in the reproductive tract until heat came. I honestly don't think sperm lives that long. But I can't find anywhere online that says exactly how long goat sperm lives.

Goats getting pregnant later than when initially bred?!

I sent my two goats away for a week to be bred. They turned two in February and this is their first time. They were gone Oct. 31 to Nov 6. They were due anywhere from April 1 (or before) to April 10th (absolute latest day at 155 days if bred on Nov 6.) One is a boer and the other is a nubian...

Topic of the Week - Feeding mealworms, bugs etc.

Mine steal what the cats catch. Mice, chipmunks, etc. I almost feel bad for the cats but it's too funny.

Legal in city illegal in HOA.

"You can't fight city hall".... well you can lead to change if you can get on the HOA board. I don't know exactly how a HOA works, but I came from a small closed-minded town which had rules almost as bad as an HOA. I started getting on the boards, got a few things changed. But according to one...

    Farm innovations 4250 incubator

I am getting ready to start up my incubator with duck eggs and guinea eggs. Not sure if my guineas are even fertile, but we had to kill our male guinea because he attacked my roosters and I will not have that. So as a last ditch effort to see if he even fathered anything, I am putting in the...

Can my Cornish Cross chicks go outside?

I just looked at the calendar and realized mine will be 5 weeks old on Friday. They were a week old when we got them. It will only be 19 degrees tonight, but it is 50 today and I took the meaties outside for the first time. I don't think I should leave them outside though....never raised meaties...
