Confused on how to get started with my current setup

Thanks KikisGirls...where would you recommend I sleep the chickens until it cools off? My setup has the closed in area like you say as well as grass below and off to the side.

Confused on how to get started with my current setup

When you say "main coop" do you mean the actual roosting area or just in the grass? I know, I know, I'm cringing as I type since I'm so naive...

Confused on how to get started with my current setup

You do think it will be too small? I can never tell. They will have the entire side of the house to roam daily and access to the full backyard most days, but I can never quite tell for actual roosting how much room they need. Newb.

Confused on how to get started with my current setup

Thanks, that's a good point. It'll actually be between a fence and the side of my house so is pretty well protected, but there might be a period of 1-2 hours where the sun is more direct.

Confused on how to get started with my current setup

Hi everyone, ready to insert an eyeroll? ;) I'm completely confused on how to get started with what I currently have. Not sure how to add pics, but my coop is a standard coop with attached run (similar to any you can find on Amazon) that is advertised being able to hold 4-6 LF chickens. They'll...

New and ready to jump in (Yeehaw!)

Hello, all, new to the site and chickens in general...I've been lurking awhile, though. My 6 chicks arrive in 10ish days and we are so excited! Finishing the coop this weekend and getting all the necessary supplies. Names have been picked out, kids are excited, life is good. :) Looking forward...

Chicks Arriving Soon + Adopting a Hen = Possible?

Hello, new here. :) My 6 chicks are arriving in the next 7-10 days, a mixture of LF and bantams. I also have the opportunity to adopt a Silkie around the same time (or even a bit sooner). Am I able to house them all at the same time in the coop? I plan to brood the chicks outdoors, as it's 100...
