Will a broody bantam adopt full size breed chicks?

I hope so! I will set up my usual brooder just in case. I've never really done fosters like this before with broodys. Last year I did have a hen hatch three chicks and then reject them. I was able to give those to another hen who had chicks about a week older.

Will a broody bantam adopt full size breed chicks?

The hens who are broody are crosses and I'm not want to breed my crosses this year, my paired off bantams are pure breeds and arent the broody ones! Thanks! I will see when my local feed stores get chicks in and see when her eggs would hatch. :-)

Will a broody bantam adopt full size breed chicks?

I have about 4 bantam hens that are broody. None of my bantams I have paired up are laying yet, however. I am wanting to get some good egg layers that are full size breeds and I'm wondering if I go get chicks from TSC would the banis adopt them and brood them for me?

Respiratory Infection? And crust on face.

She showed improvement, but suddenly one afternoon started having seizures. It wasn't long after that she passed. That was a few days ago. Very sad to see her gone but sometimes theres not much you can do. Thank you for your help, nonetheless. <3

Respiratory Infection? And crust on face.

The other side looks the same, I was only able to get the one pic. But only this side had the eye bubbles (I hope that makes sense!) When I rubbed coconut oil on her face, it was very hard to get off. I'll get monistat tomorrow morning. Her eyes are still clear, but we have terramiycin on hand...

Respiratory Infection? And crust on face.

This is Molly, a bantam cochin of unknown age. I've had her for two years. Yesterday she was fine, pecking at the rooster to get away from her food and today she was on her perch making gasping movements and shaking her head. I got closer to her and her face is just covered with yellowish crust...

    Swollen Throat

She's actually ok I think! I looked at her throat and it was a large soild lump and I looked inside and right behind her tongue was a mass of feed. I picked some out with a stick and managed to disloge it. She swallowed it fine. Her throat appears slightly swollen still but she isnt making the...

    Swollen Throat

This is my mama hen, Bandit, that currently has 5 chicks. Today her throat is swollen and she's making swallowing motions. I haven't checked for discharge from her throat yet, I'm waiting for someone to help keep the chicks in the cage so they don't get hurt. I'm very concerned because she does...

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

I did my 11th grade science fair project on that, even tested the boiling with vinegar and rising with cold water methods that are supposed to make fresh eggs peel easier (easier but not perfectly). I try to explain it to people in simple terms because well, most of those terms you used go over...

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

The few people I have sold eggs to complained to me that they couldnt peel them like they could the store bought eggs when they boiled them. I tried to explain its because the eggs are fresh and the shell bonds are stronger because of that but they didn't believe me. I think they think my...

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Yup, it still irks me. Honestly, I don't think some people have any idea how much money goes into keeping chickens. Or even how much work for that matter. :p

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Thats a good idea! But most people I know don't care for fresh, only cheap. I'm thinking of getting certified to sell eggs to resteraunts and stores since its only a class and test.

Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

When I was trying to sell eggs as a teen, one of my parents co-workers told me I should just give the eggs away since I get them for "free". I worked odd jobs for neighbors to support my chickens. Sadly, most people still have this view on me selling my eggs, especially since I want $1 more...

    BYC gardening thread!!

If the corn meal dont work, try diatomaceous earth. I use to to kill slugs and japenese beetles, it works great and is natural. :-)
