Thought I'd share a picture of some of my chicks! I have a BR roo and my hens are RIR, buff orps, BR, and SLW. It's going to be fun to see what they all end up looking like!

I did that! I had them secluded until the last chick hatched was 3-4 days old. I researched a lot on this subject and most everything I read said that it was best to integrate them into the flock early on and that momma hen would protect them. Momma left 2 babies in the nest box unprotected though

It's definitely raw meat but isn't bloody or seeping anymore. I might try to clean her up over the weekend and see how she looks. I'd hate to miss the window of opportunity to put her back and be accepted. But I'd hate even more for something else to happen to her.

Do you think she will be able to regrow feathers since they pecked her skin off?

I will make sure to buy some blu-kote before attempting it. Do you think the other chicks will pick on her, if mom accepts her? She is kinda freaky looking! Lol

Oh gosh, should I bathe the chick to get the medicine off? Her feathers are dried in stiff tufts. I'm so afraid of hurting her delicate little skin. Thank you so much for all the great advice! This was a hard lesson learned

What do you think my chances of momma taking her back are? I made an attempt this evening to reintroduce them and momma hen lunged to peck her...I was ready and saved her though. I'm so heartsick over this poor little chick. She needs to be with her momma!

One of my baby chicks was pecked pretty bad by one of my hens. Feathers and skin around the back and neck are gone but no bloody spots or injuries to the meat. I've had her inside for 4 days now and she is doing great! I would like to give her back to her momma hen at some point but I'm not sure...

One of my baby chicks got pecked by an older hen while her momma hen was out of the nest box. She is passed the critical stage and seems to be doing well. My question is when should I reintroduce her to her momma and the other 5 chicks? Will they pick on her because she has no feathers?

Wonderful news about your sweet chick! The same thing just happened to one of my chicks. I'm wondering when or if I should give her back to her momma. What did you end up doing with yours?

I will thanks! The only other bantam I have is an silver duckwing and they end up looking so different than they do as chicks. Just wondering if this little one will too.

Can anyone tell me what kind of bantam this little guy is? I bought him at our local feed store. He hatched on 4-10-17. Thank you in advance!

Should be soon, I have 19 pullets all the same age and so far only 5 or 6 are laying. Keeping my fingers crossed that she'll get nicer once she starts laying!
