    Hen with crooked/bulging neck

Thank you so much! I gave her 5mL of olive oil with a syringe and a nice massage and she is already starting to look a bit better. She wasn't happy with the olive oil, but what can you do.

    Hen with crooked/bulging neck

She mostly eats layer feed. (Highland naturals) and she has access to the grower feed too (purina organic). I keep them cooped and in the run most of the time. Treats are usually corn cobs or melon rinds, etc. Although she does occasionally eat grass, bugs, etc. I am pretty sure she has even...

    Hen with crooked/bulging neck

My molting hen developed a strange bulge on the right side of her neck. When I feel it, it just feels like bone to me like she suffered some kind of twisted neck injury. We have hee in quarantine. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what this is and how to help her. Otherwise she seems...

    Molting hen

I have a year old hen going through her first molt, and she has started acting aggressively to the rest of the flock. She will jump on the other girls' backs and bite their necks. She will peck and sometimes draw blood. She never acted this way before. Is this normal?

Poultry Lice - What is the best product to treat?

One pf my laying hens has been acting strangely. Low appetite, a little lethargic today, her eyes are droopy. When I picked her up it was obvious something was wrong. She was way too light. I checked her body. She has little golden parasites that match her feathers. I quarantines her and cleaned...

Please help! What is the best treatment for lice. One of my hens hasn't been acting quite right. Today when I picked her up she had lost weight. She is a little lethargic, her eyes are droopy, and her appetite is next to nothing. She is normally a chunky girl and she was light as a feather. I...

    Ameraucana versus Easter Egger

Not that it matters at all, but the feed store sold these chicms as Ameraucanas. Of course I have no experience distinguishing chicken breeds. Are they really Ameraucanas or Easter Eggers- or one of each. Chick 1 has very blue legs and a blonde head. Chick 2 has blue grey legs and a much...

Buff Orpington chick pullet or ...a roo?

I think that the buff orpington may have a week on the americauna (or ee?) chicks. They are 2x as big. So I will keep out hope and listen for crowing and spurs.

Buff Orpington chick pullet or ...a roo?

We got 4 new babies from the feed store about a week ago. Supposedly all pullets. The lovely Lulu seems to be growing and feathering a bit already, but she? Has a tendency to stand up tall and her tail has a suspicious curve to it. This is only my second set of chicks, so I am really not good at...

23 Weeks Old, no eggs yet.

This is our first time raising backyard chickens. We have a small flock of 4 buff orpington hens. 23 weeks old. They have been wonderful to keep, but so far no eggs. Am I doing something wrong? Two of our girls already have red combs and waddles. The other two are still small and pink. We live...

    Buff Orpington pullet or roo?

I am completely new to chickens. These four buff orpingtons are our first. They are 11-12 weeks old now and are all supposed to be pullets. I am becoming a little suspicious that one of my lovely ladies may not be a lady at all, but I have no experience, she may just be a bit bossy. She started...
