I've had chickens for about five years and had my first coon attack Sunday night/Monday morning. I had 12-15 juveniles that wouldn't coop up at night and lost three of them: one's head was gone and the other two looked fine. Consequently, I started cooping everyone up at night, even the ducks...

Actually, I was able to get them in their own kennel and they are now in the chicken run so that there will be fewer integration problems...and I can get rid of the extra roosters sooner too!

Back in April I bought 15 red sex links and they are doing well and already mixed in with the flock. I have two broodies in the coop, but I keep removing their eggs. Three girls hid their eggs and I now have 22 new chicks between the three of them!

The 6th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I have two large dog kennels that I put my young chicks (7-8 weeks old) in, inside the coop. This lets the older birds get used to the new birds and the new birds get used to being inside the coop.

I feed a mix of Layer Pellets, scratch and BOSS. During the summer months I ferment. I don't in the winter cuz it's too wet here on the Oregon coast. I also have crushed oyster shell available for whenever. I used to free range my birds, but the neighbors started complaining about the...

    Stella's Social Club

I tried switching incubator eggs with those under a broody once...the eggs were peeping in the shell and when I checked on the eggs the next morning they were gone...I couldn't find any evidence at all that I'd put them there...so I wouldn't recommend it, but I have heard good results from...

Our youngest daughter, 23 this year, was adopted from Bangkok and arrived here when she was five months old. She was a wonderful baby and did well in grade school. When she got to middle school she started changing. In high school things got worse. She was very intelligent and wanted to be a...
