    Letting Go of Dreams

And I'm so sorry to hear about your ducks! I got started in poultry with only 2 ducks as well! I bought them from tractor supply when I was in college and they lived in my apartment with me. Sounds messy, but duck diapers took care of it until I married my husband and we moved outside of town.

    Letting Go of Dreams

We could have a few chickens where we are planning on moving! I may be able to keep a few and at least have eggs for us. I currently have a pregnant milk goat that is due in March, but I'll have to leave her behind as well. Maybe within a couple of years we'll have enough saved up to actually...

    Letting Go of Dreams

Thank y'all so much. This was really what we needed to hear right now. We've been surrounded by so many unkind people lately we were starting to believe our situation really was hopeless. Bless your souls for your words of encouragement. You have no idea how much they mean.

    Letting Go of Dreams

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am being forced into selling off my flock of over 100 birds. My family is running me off the place I had been keeping them, so I am being forced into letting go of my small business. I had grown really attached to my flock and it breaks my heart to have...

HELP CHICKEN ATTACKED BY UNKNOWN exposed bone wing

Don't give up hope either! My friend has a rooster that is practically missing the left side of his face because a snake swallowed his head when he was a chick. He's full grown now even though he looks a little lopsided.

HELP CHICKEN ATTACKED BY UNKNOWN exposed bone wing

Aw, poor thing! Is his breast torn into, or is it just his wing? Hard to tell from the picture. I would try to keep the area clean and trim any feathers around it to prevent infection. Keep him warm too, and try to avoid overhandling him.

Should I Quit the Chicken Business?

That might just work! Thanks so much y'all. I've been really down since it all played out yesterday, but maybe there's still hope.

Should I Quit the Chicken Business?

That kind of gives me hope, Tumbling K. I was reading last night to see if anyone else had any experiences with this and even found articles about this very thing happening with store bought eggs.

Should I Quit the Chicken Business?

I hadn't thought about selling added value products. That is a possibility. I had considered talking to a couple of my other customers who are also good friends and seeing what they would suggest. Maybe if they are still willing to buy from me after all this, it won't kill my business. I should...

Should I Quit the Chicken Business?

That's probably the thing to do. It's heartbreaking because I've really loved the whole thing, but I guess all it takes is one bad egg.

Should I Quit the Chicken Business?

I'd do just that, but I had already bought more chicks before this happened and won't have a place for them if I don't expand to a bigger building. I've considered just selling the new chicks.

Should I Quit the Chicken Business?

I'm new here, so please go easy on me. I've had a pretty bad turn of events here lately, and I just need someone to give me their honest opinion about whether I should call selling eggs quits. I had a regular egg customer who got her 2 dozen eggs for the week, per the usual, a couple of weeks...
