Aw your chickens sounds like a good team. Helping the molting one keep warm lol
I'm gna try deworm them. I haven't seen anymore worm poop so far so fingers crossed.
She's going into moly at a bad time because now in London it's getting real cold and rainy-er and my coop doesn't have heating.
I give her some meal worms as protein and some cottage cheese I usually give them eggs 1-2 times a week but will bump it up.
As far as eating, when I came out this...
Don't have anywhere to have it tested but I can keep an eye out on her poop.
So far she's molted all around the neck and till day before was laying regularly with clean eggs.
My girls molting but also brooding?? Do chickens brood at this time of the year? Was sat there puffed up on an egg. Not sure if it's hers but I pulled her out and she had wings spread and stationary broody like.
I give eggs about 1-2 times a week since I saw this but I'll have to visit the store to gets some rations then.
I have organic layer pellets I guess the protein level is average.
Thanks for the advice.
I got a buff who's been on the receiving end of pecks (to the butt too) but she's lost a lot of feathers too.
I did see my black rock pecking her feathers around the neck (maybe lack of protein) and tried to remedy that. But from the pics is this a case melting or stress/bullying?
I hope so.
When I bought this purple spray and the anti peck they seemed to have stopped yesterday but this morning they pecked her again in the morning while they were in the pen. Now they're all out again and they don't bother her. :/
Weird creatures lol
Haha that would be cool but she stopped laying about a week ago. I wouldn't mind some blue eggs (fake Easter eggers lol).
Today it seemed they pecked her again :he
I brought her out the pen so she can play in the grass while the other two watch.
Couldn't get ably-Kote but got her a substitute and some anti-peck spray. They haven't pecked her since I let them out a few hours ago so fingers crossed.
Since I prayed her butt purple we've all been laughing out arses off :bun:lau
this weather and the full time job doesn't make it easier to deal with stubborn chickens lol
I might have to just make one in the weekend if the rain would stop for 10 minutes lol
I was thinking of caging her too to teach her a lesson. I can only separate in the pen so need to figure out how to keep them separate at night times :/. Doesn't make it easier that these chickens are more stubborn than myself lol
It looked like it.
She still gets pecked a lot though. Last night in the roost my light Sussex kept pecking her in the head but it's my black rock that chases her around pecking her vent. I'm not sure if that's because if the red scab or that she just wants to bully.
Some updates:
Since there wasn't enough roosting space I added a few more and longer roosts.
Also, I separated my hen that was getting pecked at the vent, cleaned her up and used some hemaroid cream (don't know if it was needed) but thought it couldn't do bad if it was a prolapsed vent. Poor...
