Help! Rooster fight left seriously injured chickens

Hello all! Hoping you can help with a quandary. I’ve got 3 roosters I accidentally ended up with to my 6 hens. I’ve been trying to rehome them with no luck since I realized they were males and last night they got into a fight that left one very injured - bloody and missing an eye, not doing...

Hen won’t leave coop- but hasn’t laid an egg

Ohh.. ok, well that is good to know! She’s with another hen laying an egg, so I will check to see how she does! I thought if she wasn’t already laying on one, it might mean she was sick. Thank you both!

Also, no new chickens in the coop, and she’s at the top of the social ladder with this group

Hen won’t leave coop- but hasn’t laid an egg

When I took her out, she stood around confused for a little while, and then a few minutes later she went back to a nesting box. Right now she’s holding her ground with a hen who wants to lay an egg in her box

Hen won’t leave coop- but hasn’t laid an egg

Thank you for the response! She is about 2 years old and is some sort of mixed breed- looks like an olive egger. She is sitting in a nesting box and doesn’t seem to be bothered by me touching her or looking to feel if there are eggs underneath her. I’m in western Wisconsin; the weather here...

Hen won’t leave coop- but hasn’t laid an egg

Not sure what is wrong with my most (typically) outgoing hen. Won’t come out for treats or free ranging for two days.. but she doesn’t seem to be laying any eggs or sitting on other eggs. Any ideas to see what else is wrong? No obvious injuries

Help! Rooster’s Nails have fallen out!

Great! I will do that. He wouldn’t let me pick him up earlier but I will try to get him while he is roosting. What kind of antibacterial ointment is safe for chickens?

Help! Rooster’s Nails have fallen out!

Hi All- I was checking on my flock today and saw that a few of my roosters nails (not spurs) on one foot have fallen out. They don’t look infected or bloody, but several weeks ago I did notice that he had one bloody nail, but didn’t realize there was a major issue. He doesn’t look like he’s...

Roosters battling each other more in spring?

They really don’t bother him at all, but if he tries to mate with them, they usually tell him to get lost. I think they would be ok with him, he’s just never been the alpha leader that they follow before. He’ll call to them about pointing out food but he’s not necessarily as aware of incoming...

Roosters battling each other more in spring?

I’m wondering if I can get rid of the copper maran and keep the silkie.. but do you think the hens would hurt him because of his size?

Roosters battling each other more in spring?

Do you think a silkie would be a good rooster for a flock? Or do they make poor caretakers? My copper maran is very mean and kind of dangerous, but is good to protect the hens.

Roosters battling each other more in spring?

I found them fighting this morning and separated them. No major injuries, but bigger rooster pecked the silkie’s Head, so I could see a tiny bit of blood. Hoping maybe in time we can try putting them together again when the hormones go down a bit. :(.

Roosters battling each other more in spring?

Thank you so much everyone! I’ll be watching carefully and will to try to find another home if this continues. And I’ll have the hose on the ready.

Roosters battling each other more in spring?

Hello! I have had my copper maran rooster in my flock of 8 hens, along with a Silkie rooster for 2 years now. They were raised together and have usually done pretty well. My silkie knows the bigger rooster is the boss and they have never gotten into too many scuffles. I noticed the two of them...

    Hen having trouble breathing?

She seems to be doing well overall. She's still eating and running around the yard with the flock. She's a year old now just about. No new flock members recently, but it almost seems like something is stuck in her throat or crop. How would you make sure something moves if that is the case?

    EXTREMELY INJURED HEN: Please Help!!!

Not sure if you've received other feedback on this, but thought I'd throw in what I've seen in mine.. I don't know for sure about the eye, but If she has any open cuts, I've used a product called "hen healer" that seemed to work wonders. I've also used some children's pedialyte in their water...

Hi All! I've got a Wyandotte hen that seems to be having trouble breathing. I held her and she seems to be wheezing and also noticed she has some foamy droppings. Any ideas as to why? Thanks!
