In my area we have plentiful coyote, raccoons, possum, and other wildlife. I know my coop and run will be a like a new buffet opening up in the spring. We are working on making the coop very predator proof and making the run pretty safe as well.

Watching this thread to learn. We will be getting chicks in the spring. Trying to incorporate ideas into our new coop/run now rather than waiting for next winter to catch us by surprise.

I have been looking into berry plants, with particular interest in native plants. So far, I am looking at possibly blue berries, blackberries and elderberry plants.
Still need to determine if any of these pose a threat to the chickens.

Thanks for the feedback. The roof probably has more support than you can see in the photos but will be getting some additional strengthening before I'm done. It has already survived some 30-40 mph winds so I know I'm on the right track.

We have started converting what appears to have once been a dog run and/or chicken coop into a new coop/run. We should have plenty of room for 8-10 hens.
