Update, she has pooped today but I've also noticed that her crop is swollen... I haven't fed her since isolating her yesterday apart from a table spoon of yogurt... I can't smell anything obvious, could it be a slow crop causing all these issues? How do I fix it?
She normally has access to pellets, scratch mix and we chuck weeds/grass in the yard. She doesn't have grit, none of my other chickens were using it long before she was born, so I stopped putting it out. I can give her some though if you think it would help?
This is a poo she has done since her...
I've given her a bath and put antifungal cream on her, she has molasses water and yoghurt in there now. I'll switch it out for acv water later on.
But I think it may be a bit prolapsed also... is there anything else I can do? I can get anusol cream, is that the same as the other things mentioned?
She's seems fine, is eating and drinking nd running around- no changes there. I've been looking up vent gleet since posting and am thinking that is what it is.
About to get some pet shampoo to clean her up and begin treatment. I have antifungal cream already.
Hey everyone. I have chick whos about 9 and a half weeks old and she(?) has a very sore bum (I'll attach a picture) atm I've put cetrigen spray on it but what is caused it, how do I treat it and how do I prevent it from happening again?
It hatched 5th of November, I'm pretty sure mum is a RSL and dad is either a light sussex x or a gold laced wyandotte. I'll get some more photos a bit later today.
No, it all happened in the coop, it's pretty predator proof as far as ours go here in South Aus.
I do have geese who were being...
Hey guys, my hen hatched this little one, then hubby and I found it wedged and tangled between iron and mesh almost a meter off the ground (with absolutely no idea how it got there); it was almost gone, but we fixed it up and we're now brooding it inside with some other babies.
It's roughly 4...
Hey guys, I have two approx 8wk old goslings who I believe have a Niacin deficiency (they were eating chook food not duck\goose starter - this problem is fixed now and they're eating the correct feed) but I still need to boost their Niacin a bit; I have brewers yeast, my question is how much do...
Should I try to 'pip' into the air pocket of ones that havent hatched? How do I make sure they have actually passed? What if I hear peeping but still no pips? Its now been a day and a half since the first hatch; I have one that needs assisting, its got blood vessels still, but can breathe, so I...
So I have two chicks that hatched and one well on its way, but there are still 4 more eggs to go and it is now 22 days since incubation and they're showing no signs or pips. Candling before lock down showed what it should.
How long do I leave them before they need help and what do I do?
I know, it makes absolutely no sense, it defies everything but they're definitely moving - no blood circle, healthy veins etc. Tomorrow night marks 21days in incubator. Could they have just taken longer to start developing once put in the incubator?
No one here would have switched them, that'd...
So after having success incubating goose eggs, I've put a dozen chicken eggs (from ISA's - not sure what rooster) into my incubator.
I've weeded them down to 7, although I didn't chuck any viable ones because I've just candled them to put them in lockdown (due to hatch in 4 days ( and they all...
