    Rooster injured or sick?

I've got ~16 hens, ~4 roosters. All free range. Roosters from 1 to ~4 years. I'm incubating the hens eggs in spring and summer, so it's hard to keep track of ages. All my reds seem to get along. Foghorn got along with the reds... this just happened now with the new leghorn mix. oh well, life on...

    Rooster injured or sick?

Got him in a separate area now... I'm thinking it was the younger rooster that hatched out last spring. They are the same breed (leghorn/road island red mix). I have other roosters (reds) that don't mix it up with the leghorn/reds. Is it possible leghorns are more jealous/territorial? Well, I...

How can I control biting fly's on my donkeys and goats

I've been spending a small fortune on trying different products to control/kill the fly's that are really causing my donkeys and goats more then discomfort. I've had them bite me and they hurt! Can anyone recommend something that works? I would like something that I can spray on their legs and...

    Goat with broken horn

Any chance that whatever is holding it on will dry up and the horn would fall off by itself? What kind of tools should I have to remove it? Would it only be skin/hide holding it on, or could there be vein or other sinew still attached? I don't think I can do it alone... so... I'm going to try...

    What is this animal?

"Georgia Law allows the taking of certain native species -- namely rats, mice, armadillos, coyotes, groundhogs, beaver, freshwater turtles, venomous snakes, frogs, spring lizards, fiddler crabs, freshwater crayfish, freshwater mussels, and nutria -- because of their status as a nuisance or other...

    What is this animal?

Thanks to all for the info... I haven't seen any signs of him (or her) being in the coop or chicken run, but don't want to take a chance. At this point it seems to like it under one of the sheds. What would be the best bait to get it into a trap (I've got a fairly large live trap), but don't...

    What is this animal?

First time I've seen this thing... looks like a fury tailed beaver!... young porcupine? Any ideas on what this is? I don't think it is a predator, but could be a pest if it starts breeding and eating my goats and chickens feed... Been here 10 years and haven't seen anything like it...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

Still more questions about feeding the donkey's... Would Timothy hay mixed with Coastal Bermuda (half and half) be a good choice for feed? and About how much? Twice a day? I'm guessing their weight @ ~500-600 pounds... Would Nutrena SafeChoice Senior be a good supplement (half pound scoop per...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

Because my donkey's don't really know me yet, I was hesitant to put the syringe into their mouth, afraid they would bite down... Merck makes a Equine Dewormer (.5% fenbendazole) called Equi-bits that can be poured on top of daily ration... what do you think? btw, the 'rawness' on Gingers tail...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

Are you using the inject-able or paste? Is there any wormer I could use in the feed (that would work well) and be ok for the goats also?

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

Thanks, I'll get that done today. Spent yesterday picking up the four goats that lived with the donkey's. They were glad to see each other again... That's Bret (banded male) with Ginger... Bret's twin (?) sister, Brie (all white), is between the other girls in back. Haven't gotten the...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

Guess I must have done something wrong the first time I tried to attach pictures... Ginger is a dirty gray mostly, but has the light dun color (of ginger) on her sides. She has a brown (light) stripe down her back and just behind her front withers. Willow is brown/tan and her stripes are black...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

Great... thank you. My donkey's have been with four other goats (picking them up tomorrow) about 3 years and get along. My goats are smaller and I have had them about six years. So far my goats have kind of stayed away from the donkey's but they seem to be starting to get to know each other...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

I don't feed my goats alfalfa unless it gets real cold and the browse is down in the winter... I'm aware of not giving the donkey's anything rich or sweet (sugar, molasses, etc.)... I'm trying to figure out how I can still give my goats their sweat mix and keep the donkey's out of it... but...

Bahia or Coastal Bermuda (or what) hay for Donkey's

I just got 2 Donkey's (mother and daughter, about 4 and 3 yrs old). I also have goats. I feed my goats Coastal Bermuda and supplement with a small scoop of sweet feed (Dumor for goats). I'm trying to find the answer to what I should feed the donkey's... should I let them share with the goats...
