Hey guys!
So I have been doing some research and would really like to start giving my 13 chickens and 3 ducks feed that is a littler higher in protein then the 16% layer feed I am using.
Any recommendations would be great! Thanks!
I'd buy a new one.
Or do what was stated and use the rubber bowls with the birdbath heater.
Or, if you can make a homemade heat source that would be even a better bet. As you will be the one putting it together and then are able to fix it.
I, too, keep the water and food in the coop. Worked great for me last year so I am assuming it will work good for me this year!
Either way, great set-up! Should work as you expect it to.
Surviving Minnesota? More like surviving the weekend!
The wife went out with a group of friends on Friday night. One of them lady night ordeals. So, I decided to get some quality time in with the step-son and our 4 month old baby girl.
Man, ohhhhh, man.
Woke up Saturday feeling great...
Thank you!I How far is a skip, hop and a jump?
Coming from an OLD,turning 28 on Thursday kid, 65 is the equivalent to 30. You have many more great years!
Ahhhh yes, another suburbanite on the forums. I have creep'd for awhile and now decided to join in on the chaos! ;)
Hello!
I am from Isanti!
Currently I have 16 chickens total. And......annnnnnnnnnnnd....... 3 ducks! I am not a fan of them at all (I just sold 7) but the remainders are the wife's favorite.
It is a mix between orpingtons, silkies, and a frazzle? That's what I call him!
Pretty much hit the nail on the head. Here in MN I sell mine for $3/doz also. Any higher and I got that sour look and the "Maybe nextime" any lower and it seems like I would break even or lose out a little.
Thank you!
I am really leaning on that idea.
My bucket with the heater inside and the nipples seems to keep freezing so I think I might scrap that idea.
It could be an on-set of frost bite. I don't think putting them in a smaller enclosure would make a difference. I would just keep an eye on the combs, feed them some corn, and make sure they have luke warm water. If you start getting really concerned maybe throw a heat lamp in there for when the...

That looks fabulous! I like the idea for the poop deck! Might have to use that one if you don't mind!!
Awesome craftsmanship and congrats to the chicken life!!
I have been giving my chickens water from a meal watering can for awhile. Was wondering what some of you might be doing to train them to use the nipples?
Any ideas would be put to use!
Thank you!
Here is two people that do it.
Nobody said every rooster has a frost bitten comb. Chase? Like run after them? LOLOLOL just walk in the coop, put a dab of vasoline on the comb and done.
