Thanks all! So I've got a bunch of mutts and an austrolorp it seems. I got them all from a local breeder and I was led to believe they were not mutts. They were also supposed to be all hens, but she scored 3 for 3 on that one. I was hoping there was some quality with the three roos so I could...
I could use some help ID'ing these three chickens. The first should be a roo as he started crowing the other day, but I can't pin down the breed. The other two definitely look like hens, but I need help with the breeds on them. When I bought the bunch I was told I was getting RIR, barnevelder...
I have not had any problems at all mixing ages. i just make sure they are roughly the same size and if possible put more young ones than old ones in the cage so the young ones dont get ganged up on. The only problem with fighting I have ever had has been with males of the same generation. And...
I have muscovy and turkey eggs staggered in the bator. The turkeys are due for lockdown 5/25 and the muscovies 5/30. When i lockdown the turkeys can i stop turning the duck eggs? It would be 8 days before they are due to hatch. I dont want to have to open the bator at all after i lock down the...
THe carton tells you when they were layed, or at least packaged. There will be a 3 digit number near the exp date that corresponds to the day of the year they were laid. For example, jan 1st would be 001. Dec 31st would be 365. Today, mar 22 would be something like 081 because its the 81st day...
Thanks all.
The birds are supposedly manchurian, but I think they are mixed a bit.
I have read the sticky and every other piece of info i could find on the net...just was unsure about a few things. If I could just get the sex figured out it would answer most my questions.
Here is a post...
I have 5 coturnix that were given to me. They are about 15 old weeks now. I cannot tell the sex. One started laying about 7 days ago. I have been getting an egg a day since then. I have a few questions...
1. Should I assume there is only one hen, or is it possible more could be lagging behind...
Ozzie, the two chamber setup is brilliant. Going to try that out.
On the original fan question, mine is pointing towards the eggs. I was concerned about it at first. But since it is only about 1/8th inch from the wall, it cant get much airflow behind it so it really doesnt blow much air at all...
Got the best photos I could. Nobody would cooperate. The three Bantams should be hens. Nobody is crowing anyway. All are about 6 months old and somebody just started laying about a week ago. Not sure who though.
1. Breed? Sex? Polish?
2. Breed? Sex?
3. Breed? Sex?
4. My first ever...
