That was my plan, and I did buy two eggs, but only one hatched. The other was still just a yolk, so it either wasn't really fertilized or never developed. I was disappointed!
Hi! I bought a fertilized egg for my broody hen to hatch. The chick hatched 4 weeks ago and everything has been going great.
Last night however, mama hen left the baby in the coop and went up to the higher perch to roost. Baby Juniper seemed distressed. She ended up perching next to another...
I bought two fertilized eggs to place under my
broody hen, but only one hatched. The other one was either not fertilized or was not viable.
My question is, is having only one chick ok? The other two hens in the coop seem ok with it so far, and mama hen is being so good. I don’t know if I want...
The garage door was open all day and still is. No gas. No chemicals. Nothing automotive. Blood is gone and she is bit breathing heavily anymore. Some watery diarrhea. Are some scrambled eggs.
I noticed this afternoon that my 2.5 Light Brahma was coughing and/or sneezing.
-Eyes and nostrils clear
-Eating and drinking fine
-Not lethargic
-Comb and wattle where nice and red
-No diarrhea
I separated her and put her in a kennel in the garage with food, water with electrolytes and...
Hello! I got some great advice last time I posted so I thought I’d post about some other little bumps in the road.
Backstory: Added two new pullets to my existing 2 hen flock. Introduced them slowly (over the course of a month) and finally put the new bids in our existing coop with the older...

I read ahead of time that I needed to quarantine the new pullets to make sure there are no...
Hi there! I've been dealing with watery egg whites for a month or so now, from my 2 year old RIR. Her eggs have become very elongated as well. Just by searching google I read that infectious bronchitis can cause this. But my bird seems totally healthy, no runny nose, eyes, no cough, no lethargy...
I was doing a foot check on my bird today and noticed this. She has another spot similar on her other foot as well. I’m assuming it’s Bumblefoot.
I went to my feed store and they gave me some Betadine and Vetericyn to soak it in. I was to also going to use Neosporin and wrap it, however that...
I know, but after a couple hours my post got lost and I posted again since I hadn’t heard anything. She wouldn’t really walk other than to go back into the kennel.
She is laying down. I posted again more recently. She had a large amount of diarrhea come out. She looks ok. Comb and wattles are red.
I feed them layer feed. I started about a month ago because I wasn’t sure when they’d start laying.
The egg had a hard shell
