Hey guys,
I bought hatching eggs that were supposed to all be golden cuckoo Marans. I ended up with a golden cuckoo, two black coppers, and a solid black. One of them has no feathers on her legs or feet (one of the black coppers). Do I sell her, cull her...? I'm not sure what the protocol is...
lol I know they're chickens. I just have no idea what breed. I find them very ugly. I just rehomed them with someone who has a roo in need of companionship.
These ladies were sold to me as splash bearded Ameraucanas. I knew when I first saw them that the woman was bamboozling me (I know the difference between an Americana and Ameraucana), but I took them anyways, because the supposed parents were cool looking. Jokes on me. What do y'all think they...
I agree. They aren't breed standard colors. I didn't know that when I got them, but I've learned a lot since then. I don't even know what to call the white colored ones! I'm not too snobby about my birds. I won't be selling their eggs or offspring unless someone wants them with full disclosure...
Well friends, my "designer" Orpingtons and Brahmas are much bigger now. Their feet are all either white or gray. Seriously though, what is with the pearl, off white, whatever you want to call it color? Is that a thing? I have two that color!
Looking the chicks I was sold, some have the white skin, but most are yellow. Do you think they are Americana (the mixed breed kind, not the Ameraucana) chicks?
I'm in North Central Texas. I did some research and found that any partridge colorings in Orpingtons aren't recognized as breed standard. Which is what she is telling me they are. blue/gold partridge and red/gold partridge is what she's calling them. Of course, I've now read that they should...
I spoke with the lady I got the chicks from. These are the mamas. The front 2 are Orpingtons and and the back are Brahmas.
She says they are pure bred. What do y'all think? The parents are gorgeous.
I thought Orpington because the seller said she had some of those chicks as well. I'll be texting her this morning. All of her adult chickens were beautiful, so I honestly don't care what they are. But if she bamboozled me I'm gonna be p'd off. I paid way too much for mutts, you know?
I just got 11 chicks from a lady. I thought all were Brahmas. A few blue partridge and had no idea on the others color. Saw the parents (gorgeous) on site, but didn't get to look over the chicks that well. Only three have feathered feet. Sooooo I've got mutts, or perhaps some color of Orpington...
