Don't know what breed or gender you have? Click here!

I snapped some tonight when I went to check on them. I never knew chickens would have two combs!

I went down after dark to check in on the flock and figured I would peak in at that broody bantam. I noticed that she actually has a double comb???? There's two distinct combs that run parallel. They're fairly small, but two, pretty jagged combs. There seemed to be a small "spike" between the...

Got them from a guy who was moving. He had other bantams he was taking with him, but they were definitely show birds. These were his "layers". Never asked him the breed. Pretty silly on my part. My wife thought they were cute so we brought them home. Their rooster is a NHR (or RIR) bantam...

White eggs. The one on the left in my profile picture. "Type" of comb? It's pretty short and almost non-existent.

What do you guys think of these bantam hens? No clue on breed. They lay 4-5 eggs per week and one is now broody! Small stripes of "fluff" down the outside edge of their legs and little "tufts" on the sides of their heads.

    Who's got a broody hen?

I have a Buff Orphington that went broody last week. She got a dozen eggs from our own collection. Then yesterday I found one of my little bantam hens on a pile of eggs in the last box. She couldn't even cover them all. So I pulled most of them out and left her 5 to hatch. 2 are from the bantam...

A while back I was given a trio of bantam chickens. A rooster and his two beloved hens. I'm wondering if someone could take a guess at what breed they are? I think the rooster is a bantam New Hampshire Red (or Rhode Island) but the little hens I'm clueless about. They both lay white (small)...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

I got all my hens fully grown. But I got an egg the day after we got them. I picked them up from a friend about 8:30 pm on Feb 25, 2017 and had an egg the next day despite the new environment and nearly freezing temperatures. Only a month later and I'm up to 7-9 eggs per day!

This forum is pretty impressive. I'm used to auto forums (mostly tacomaworld) where most of the members are from the U.S. or Canada. I see members on here from all over the globe. My username is based on my two roosters. I acquired my mixed flock from a friend rehoming hens, a local organic...

New to BYC from the Willamete Valley in Oregon.

I've been lurking here for a few weeks now. I've acquired a flock of my own to have fresh eggs and have been researching things here when I have questions. I'm not emotionally attached to the birds but I take pride in taking care of them. My wife thinks I'm crazy and would probably think I'm...
