I've never heard my males crow, and oddly the only fighting ever was when they were 5wks old (the tuxedo) now he's reintegrated perfectly. There are two males that are always sitting down together. I'm really not sure if one of them is male (the one I showed you) he/she has a bib but the other...
You said they can breed together naturally so I'm thinking that they're just buttons that evolved to be larger than the average button. So would the cross breeds just be large button quail?
What would happen if I would crossbreed them. If they are that closely related would somebody be able to just sell them as large button quail?
Edited because my grammar is horrible
I got some pretty bad mortality rates for my button quail, as my luck goes. Only females died....So i'm planning on getting more females. Is it okay to wait until after summer, and to get more females before spring. Basically what I'm thinking is that spring is breeding season. So if I leave...
I have a button quail that is egg bound. She has had: Olive oil applied on vent, NOT INSIDE. I do not know how to do that, and a Warm water bath 10minutes. I know it is egg bound because she is straining in the vent area. She has runny poop, and she's all fluffed up. She has been egg bound for...
Now that i've been watching them more. I see that most of them are friendly to him. The only one that is not is the aggressive one. He's the only tuxedo, and yes they were raised together as chicks. To be honest the males are quite happy next to each other. The only one that really causes...
I've given him his own fenced off area. He's quite cheerful at the moment. He healed quickly, and he's up and running.
Before I gave him his fenced off area. I tried to just pair him up with a female. When I did it the female with him opened her mouth and said hehehehehe. Then she started...
He's trying to fall asleep. The other ear is filled with blood. Should I give him aspirin I've heard given chickens aspirin is ok, but not quail. Will he be able to hear out of that ear the other one is definitely gone.
A button quail escaped and hit the roof. She broke her neck and died.
My other quail are doing the Tweet-weetwetweet call for their friends. Should i put the body in the cage, if so for how long?
How do i help them?
Could it be a coturnix female... i figure since she's larger she wont get bullied and since she's the only coturnix she wont bully. If that's ok then will button males mate with her?
