    Roundworms!!!

Thanks for all the reply’s! Good to know that my dogs won’t get them. My dogs are on a injection for heart worms that last 6 months so they don’t take monthly pills like heart guard that protects against intestinal parasites. I will get fecal samples and check them at the vet every so often to...

    Roundworms!!!

They don’t eat the poop off the ground but my pups like to lick their feet and I’m sure at some point they are probably running through poo somewhere in the yard. That’s the only way I can thing of them ingesting it. I live in south Florida so we don’t have a winter here:(

    Roundworms!!!

Tonight I treated my flock of 12 with Valbazen for roundworms. A few days ago I found some worms in someone’s stool so I treated them all(will do a second dose in 10 days) After doing more research I’ve offically creeped myself out after googling about roundworms. Apprantely they will live on...

    Chicken with tail down

Her feathers are all normal still except at the very end of her tail. They look a little damaged. I have another sexlink who also has a little damage to hers as well. I live in Florida and it’s been in the triple digits so I wasn’t sure if that had anything to do with it

    Chicken with tail down

She is a year and 4 months. I separated her to make sure she was laying and there was an egg in her nest box this morning and it was perfect formed. So I don’t think her calcium level or anything is off. She still has her tail down so I’m not sure what the issue exactly is.

    Chicken with tail down

Hey all, Last time one of my girls had her tail down, I knew she was egg bound since she was pumping her tail up and down; not eating, standing still, etc. This time around the only indication something is wrong is that her tail is down. She’s acting normal, eating and drinking, poops are...

    Egg bound?

I stopped and picked this up at the pharm until I am able to get some oyster shells for them full time. Hopefully this will help her. Thank you guys again. Oh and she’s a year an half. So not terribly old but she’s been laying since 16 weeks. She was my first layer and we have never had this...

    Egg bound?

Thank you so much for replying! I found some of my older hens eating my chick starter feed for my 15 week old girls right before I left for work. I’m wondering if that’s what caused the problem. I’m going to completely separate them for feeding times. Going to order calcium citrate and give her...

    Egg bound?

Came home to one of my hens standing in the rain not wanting to move to much. Picked her up and placed her in the coop and she jumped up on the roosting bars and I noticed her vent area pulsating. Figuring she’s egg bound so I gave her a 20 minute epson salt soak and put ky around her vent. I...

    Need coop name!

Been struggling trying to come up with a coop name so I can create a label for my egg cartons. I live in South Florida in an area called “the acreage”. I came up with these but figured everyone here might be able to come up with a better name. ▪️The Acreage Hens ▪️Bett’s Happy Hens ▪️Sunshine...

    Easter Egger! Hen or roo?

Picked "her" up today. I have never owned an EE before. Are they generally flighty birds? This one does not like being handled at all. Hoping that it changes in a few days once she's settled. I have her in a little crated area by herself to make sure she's free and clear of anything before...

    Is this coop to small?

I live in south Florida so weather isn't much of an issue, they won't be cooped up for winter since we don't get snow. Maybe I can look into enclosing the the whole top portion and making a new ramp for them to get down and go into the 8 foot run. Then they can free range the yard in the...

    Is this coop to small?

We planned on adding an 8 foot run on this weekend. Would that be enough?

    Is this coop to small?

I know most people say to build your own coop but my s/o was out of the country for 2 months and my chicks were outgrowing their brooder fast. I purchased this coop through my local tractor supply. It says it holds up to 8, but that would definitely be to small. I painted and sealed all the wood...
