Bats are great for controlling mosquitos. You can hang a bat house near your coop. It'll likely take a little while for it to get residents though. If you set it up this summer you should have bats by next summer.
We gave our ladies "mom" names. We just looked at them and thought of a name that seemed to fit them.

Generally Aspen is considered the safest wood bedding for pets, pine coming in second. Cedar is the one that's usually considered an unsafe bedding choice. Pine is most commonly used though as it's often cheaper and available in larger quantities.
