Please help! Chicken with crusty poo? Or infection? what is this????

Hi there, My chicken has had really runny poo for awhile now. I took her to the vet and the vet thought she had an intestinal infection so she was on antiobiotics for a week. And she had an injection for worms. So, she's been off that for awhile but she still gets really poopy feathers. So...

Help! Is this Mites, lice or just a dirty bum

Thanks again for your advice. My vet didn't think I should cut her feathers, but I think I might anyways. She's getting antiobiotics and some de-worming medicine and some powder for mites. so fingers crossed she feels better soon! Cheers.

Help! Is this Mites, lice or just a dirty bum

Thanks for your replies. I checked on her today and her feathers are messy again after I gave her a bath. She REALLY smells and there is a clear liquid that is just dripping from her feathers near her bum on a regular basis. I'm going to take her to the vet tomorrow, but I want to be as well...

Help! Is this Mites, lice or just a dirty bum

Ok so it's completely safe/pain free to cut the feathers off back there? Just sort of an inch long or right to the skin?

Help! Is this Mites, lice or just a dirty bum

Hi there, I'm totally new at this so I have no idea what I'm dealing with. I've looked at a few posts about a dirty bum and I think I might have a bit of a problem. I got 2 hens 4 days ago from a guy who got them from a battery farm. He had been free-ranging them for 4 mos, but didn't...

Newbie in New Zealand---lots of questions!

Thanks again for all your replies! I tried to put a ramp up to the nest box last night, but they didn't seem to know what that was for. So I put on of them in it and petted her until she was calm and I thought she was going to stay there, but..... as soon as I left her she jumped down. I'll...

Newbie in New Zealand---lots of questions!

Yay!! got our first egg today! Only problem is that it was on the floor of the coop rather than in the nesting boxes. So not only can I not get them onto their perch, but I can't get them to nest either! I was also cleaning out the bottom of the coop with a little scooper and found a smashed...

Newbie in New Zealand---lots of questions!

Thankyou so much for your replies! I was a bit worried that the perch wasn't rough enough or big enough.. I've tried again tonight to put them on it and they just sort of ... fall/jump off of it. They have a nice nesting box that is elevated with hay, but they prefer to huddle underneath it on...

Newbie in New Zealand---lots of questions!

HI there, I'm a totally new chicken owner and I have a couple of probably obvious questions. We got two 1 yr old hens 3 days ago and they haven't laid any eggs yet. Is it normal for them to go off the lay if they have been moved to a new place? They were battery hens, then they free-ranged for 4...
