Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

I am too, thanks for looking out for this thread it made me feel better while she was trying. There is one last egg in the incubator I'm not holding out much hope for that looks half formed, but you would sooner find me throwing myself off a bridge before I touch that one. I thought it was dead...

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

She passed sometime last night. Her membraine is still wet but doesn't absorb any water, and her veins have darkened and thinned. I don't know if it was from me accidently opening her shell, or from the fact my incubator shut off at some point last night because one of the dogs unplugged it...

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

She started being less active this evening and is no longer responding to the chick videos, her veins haven't changed but I'm of the hopeful opinion she might just be sleeping, her last movement was around 5PM. I don't want to stress her out and open it up so I'll give her more time. The...

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

Good news she's still here and the vaseline water mix I used with an eyedropper has kept her wet with the humidity so I haven't had to open the incubator back up. I have her listening to baby chicks and I'm just gonna wait the next few days and hope.

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

I will be sure to do that, I sincerely thought my days were correct and had I realized this egg was just delayed I would've never touched it and just waited. :he

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

Yeah a Frizzle and herself a silkie, I am dripping water on her when I see it drying out through the vent using a sterile Q tip. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/347250355651870720/557375771619098662/image0.jpg?width=376&height=502...

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

The veins are active but my sister just got in and says that the chick is younger which stresses me out a bit because that means i removed the wrong egg somewhere in the first week. She says day 18, but she shouldn't be 18 she was laid on the 23rd of Febuary I'm positive about this, would the...

Questions about a late hatch (Opened a dead egg to find it isn't)

This egg is supposed to be around 26 days but it may be 24-25. I opened the top and put water on it to peer through the membrane presuming it was expired since it had been forever since it moved. Turns out the chick is alive and responding now but they have not made a single cheep inside their...

Baby chick strange eye problem and limping

There are electrolight chick mixes you can give her in her water, yogurt and scrambled eggs. I am not sure what to tell you about the eye other than my guess is if she doesn’t react on that side she is likely blind, I have heard of the clicking in other forum posts but I can’t remember what ones...

Weird rooster is a coward with the ladies?

I will not stop picking him up and cuddling him for the 5 minutes a day that’s the only reason my older rooster didn’t end up like his brother in a broiler on my sisters farm. Some physical contact is good and more experienced people than I have vouched for it. But I am sorry if it came off as...

Weird rooster is a coward with the ladies?

Thank you guys I appreciate the responses I will stop worrying so much about him then and let him do his thing growing up. And yeah I do not want him to grow up to be a butt mom did not want a second rooster at all and I know how hard they are to rehome. It’d be a shame if that happened...

Weird rooster is a coward with the ladies?

He’s 18 weeks and to the other gal he is not a bantam by any stretch he is MAAAASSIVE. He is 8 pounds already and almost dwarfs my orphingtons. They are only together at night and have the option to be together when free ranging, but when unsupervised he is in a separate pen with his two girls...

    Loss of the family

I forgot to add, I would keep the duck if she ends up being fine as a solo duck. There’s no harm in waiting and seeing and I am sorry you lost the others. But if you aren’t with your birds and this has happened twice you need to assess how they were accessed and lock them in a coop when not...

Weird rooster is a coward with the ladies?

I have a Cochin roo names Penny whom was sold as a female (hah he wasn’t) and since I already had another roo I was bracing to have to get rid of him if the two tried to kill each other. Turns out that’s not so much a problem, he runs from my half silkie roo, he runs from the hens, he runs from...

    Loss of the family

Consider taking the dog and dumping it at the humane society if you catch it trying to get your pets again. Seriously figure out how the hell the dog got in and kennel your birds when not watching them or put them in a coop. But even if the dog turns out to be your neighbors I would still dump...

    Ever nuetered a rooster?

I brought them into this because neutering does nothing to stop crowing a collar does and that was their actual issue. Rather than be a jerk about it like some of the people on this thread OP was asking for things to help her situation and this fits the bill. I don’t know if OP has any other...
