    White leg horn hens

Here is one of our roosters from the same batch we had to get rid of. This is him now. Comparing him to the one, id say that its a female. Maybe just early grower? She hasn't been making her noise anymore since that morning. But this image is of the rooster who is the same age.

Now it is being questioned if she is a he? Looked at saddle feathers they appear the same as the other females, the sickle feathers go straight up, do not curl, this one just has a huge comb and waddles compared to the other 3.

    White leg horn hens

Is that normal? She is about the same size as the rest of the girls, just she has a bigger comb and waddle. I started freaking out thinking we were getting another rooster, but looking at her saddle feathers, they are the same as the other girls. If she is more developed, will she be laying...

    White leg horn hens

I have no idea how old they were. We waited for the leg horns to come in and they called to tell us they were finally in. They said they just got them in the day before, so theyd been there for two days when we picked them up.

Why thank you! I try to keep their enclosure very clean. They have a coop with enclosed run then during the day i open up the doors and they have a fenced off section of the yard around their coop that they get to forage in during the day. We just built the fenced area, so they are very pleased...

I would also like to make note after adding bricks alonh side the coop and adding lattice we have not had any issues with any of our 4 dogs. After a few weeks the dogs have gotten used to them being in the yard and no longer stalk them. We would love to let them free roam the yard but with 4...

    Chicken coop cont.

I posted a few months ago about our homemade coop. I will post pics again of it. We have since moved the coop to an area next to the house and we are constructing a fence out of pallets so the chicks can have more room to wander. Overall i am happy with our coop and it is holding up nicely. In...

    First time building a coop..

We do not have any menards here in florida. Coyotes are not around here where we are. If you go more towards the preserves then yes. However where we are is about 5 miles from the ocean. We dont have issues with snakes in our area. The main snakes you would see is a black racer or rarely a...

And we happen to find that shed. We took the best and straightest pieces and will screw it down. I check the water...
