I got some Red Sex links that will be laying shortly I believe. I have a listing on Craigslist also. I am in Hardyville, Va. Probably about an hour away. If they don't sell by this weekend I will gave them to you at $8.00 ea.
I have some Red Sex Link Pullets for sale. I am located in Hardyville, Va. and they must be picked up. These are getting ready to lay anytime now. They are $15.00 each but if you buy more than 2 I will sell them for $10.00 each. Come and get them while they last.
Well we love our chickens and my wife has them all named. I have found that if you they a stressed day at work all you got to do is sit and watch your chickens and they will relieve it. I make a point to visit with them each day.
I just let my squash grow on a little mound around the plant I make and they do fine for me. The cages I made I have also been using for several years. I check my garden every day. I am already picking squash.
I am using the cups on my smaller chickens but they don't seem to have the act of pushing the valve to get the cup filled back up. I plan on watching them and if it continues I think I will try the nipples on them because my leg horns love the nipples.
I usually get them two squares out of a garden plant tray. The squares are about 2 pounds each I think but that is just a guess. Next time I am going to try a little Barley also. It seems like maybe they may like a choice. Not sure if they like the sprouts more than the wheat grass. They go...
I current have 10 hens and one rooster in one coop and run. Then I have a second coop and run with two smaller hens and planning to put another 7 or 8 in with them. I like to keep the latger chickens separate from the bigger ones.
All our chickens will go in just after sunset most of the time. It is just like they have an order to go in because if I watch they will go one after the other spaced about 20 to 30 seconds apart. Really cool to watch. They don't care if you are out or not they will go right to bed anyway. So cool.
I have a large vegetable garden every year and love it. I plant everything I can think of and what we don't can we give to people who might need some help with food.
I make my own cages out of welders wire bought at Lowes. It is a little work to cut the wire and make the cage but they will last a very long time. Plants stand up straight and you can just reach in and pick the tomatoes.
I would use bigger size pipe and that way you will store more water at one time. Right now I am using 4" PVC piping and 5 chickens nipples. No problems at all.
We need to remember that our chickens are part of our life's and give us a lot of joy so we need to spoil them once in a while also. We go out and sit with ours a lot just to watch them do their thing and lets us relax also after a hard day at work. Can't go shopping with buying something for...
One thing I have noticed about chickens is that they will find the feed no matter where you put it. I would make sure that it is covered as mentioned before so the rain or snow can't get to it. I also do not have feed or water inside my coop. They come out at day light and go in at dawn just fine.
