    Chicken with swollen eye area.

I just noticed I’ve got one chicken with a swollen eye area really puffy. No other symptoms eats and drinks fine. Free ranges fine. I’ve searched the internet for pictures of my exact issue but came up empty. Wasn’t sure if anyone else has had this issue before or how to treat? There’s no...

    1st time Broody Hens (2)

None of mine have hatched yet. Tomorrow or Thursday should be the day. I've read that it can take up to 5 days past "hatch day" for everyone to be out and happy! I do have a separate area I plan on moving the hens and their chicks once all are hatched. Again, I've read on here and else-ware on...

    1st time Broody Hens (2)

I candled the eggs lastnight all were showing movement with the exception of 3 (which was hard to tell). Everything seems to be doing ok. My soon to be momma hens do have food/water available. Although, I haven't seen them use the bathroom much. I'm not sure if I should be physically taking them...

    1st time Broody Hens (2)

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. Right now they're in the nesting boxes. When they do hop off I've noticed that they do switch nest off and on. One of my broodys is about 2 1/2 (guessing)and the other is just over a year old. My nests are about the same height as yours. So looking...

    1st time Broody Hens (2)

As the title states. I have 2 hens that have gone broody. It's their 1st time as well as mine. Not quite sure as to what I should be doing. I've separated them, well they're still in the coop but have a temporary wall put up. I do let them out by themselves twice a day. Morning and Night. I...

When will my EEs lay eggs?

I have 8 chickens total. 2 of them are EEs which are 30 weeks old. They have yet to lay eggs. I was under the assumption that they'd start laying the end of August. Obviously, that's not the case. They are free range, as well as, penned up if I'm not home. My other chickens are laying just fine...

    Shell less egg

My SLW has just started laying egg within the last week. So far there's been 1 or 2 per day. A couple of times mainly at 5-7pm she's laid shell less eggs. I think she knows it because she'll proceed to eat it. These are also laid outside. I don't let her out in the am until mid-am. To make sure...

    what to feed mixed flock

What's the best feed to give for a mixed flock? Their ages range from 15 weeks - 24 weeks. The oldest just started laying as of today (8/2). I've read that giving layer pellets or crumbles to those not ready can eventually develop kidney issues?! Any suggestions should be appreciated! Thanks!!!

    Hanging head

I noticed that my EE started hanging her head. Pretty much to the ground. She'll eat and drink ok. Hasn't really laid down. Just stands. Try's lifting her head but can't hold it up. Her wings are dropped as well. As if she doesn't have much energy. She'll walk and run away when she needs to...
