Do you think juvenile pullets or getting chicks would be a better option? Trying to get my family on the same page with getting her some companionship because I do not think she is happy right now and is scared.
I personally do want more chickens, but it’s my family that isn’t on the same page. Do you think the chicks could live outside with her if she adopts them? Or would they need to stay inside for a few months before going outside as usual?
I give her normal pellet feed, but she seems to not be eating that (at least I haven’t seen her eating it). She loves the dried mealworms I give her. She will eat a lot of those. Not too interested in much else.
It’s definitely been hot out here. However the past few days have been cooler. I’m used to seeing poops like this occasionally on hot days, but ~80% of her poops are like this which seems abnormal. Her appetite also seems to be lower than normal. Still drinking water though.
Thank you for sharing this update, I’m glad to hear Ruth is well! I currently have a hen with very similar poops to what you posted. Did Ruth ever yawn during this? My 7 year old hen Clea is also yawning periodically. The combination of the milky white poops and yawning worries me.
I sadly had to put down one of my two 7 year old americauna hens. I’m devastated, but it was the right thing to do so that she didn’t suffer from cancer. My hen Clea is now our last girl left. Is she okay to live by herself without flock mates? I imagine she is scared since she has never been...
My 7 year old Americauna hen has started yawning periodically and has been having milky white poops. She still gobbles you the meal warms I give her for treats, but I haven’t noticed her eating her normal food in a while and she isn’t interested in some other treats she usually has liked in the...
I have been instructed to give my hen 3 cc of liquid Trimethoprim Sulfate orally twice a day for bumblefoot. I am wondering how long I should wait between doses?
My 4 year old Americana hen has (what I believe to be) 1 red, swollen wattle. Her other wattle is unaffected. I haven't noticed any other symptoms and she seems to be acting normal. I did see her yawn several times yesterday, but I've kept an eye on her and haven't seen her yawn any more. Has...
