    Bill

 Thank you! We are so glad we got the another one. Even tho she will not stretch her neck, she is much happier. Not hiding under bushes. I noticed this picture makes them look about the same size. In person, the new one looks more fit. Our original one looks fat

I am absolutely sure she is not a Drake we had one before and they were defiantly different. She does not have the dark head and she is very loud :) The picture in the pink pool shows our original pair with Drake in the front. He is the one we lost last weekend. The side by side picture shows...

I have 2 female Rouens. One is new to us. Her beak is small, thin and black. She is much smaller. I did not raise her I just received her yesterday. She was on a farm and completely free range. My other looks exactly like all of the pictures I have seen. Large with yellow and black but she is...

    Female duck

Thanks everyone. Spending the morning working on a more secure coop (she presently sleeps in our utility room in a toy box) then off to get a buddy, maybe 2 since they are so dang cute. Talked to neighbor and she has no issues. Loves them thinks its hilarious when they quack. It will be good...

    Female duck

Thanks, I do believe I will get another female and skip the drake. He was more social than her and we are very sad. They were together from the start. :(

    Female duck

I did a ton of reading and it really sounds like a strain. but not positive. I am watching closely and actually want to hold off on bringing another one in until we think she is better. I do have one neighbor but they really don't care. I thought about another female so I would not have to...

    Female duck

I posted last week asking questions about our lone duck, she is about 9 months old. We lost our Drake last weekend to a predator. Couple of questions, she is still walking around with her neck tucked in. I have seen her stretch it out but only about 20%.She has NO external signs of being hurt...

    Duck with neck problems

Ferdanand died last night we are very sad. I guess my next question is about his mate. She has been with him since day 1 (we did not know we were getting a couple) :) Will she be able to survive w/out him. We have a flock of chickens and both of the ducks fit right in with them but I am a bit...

    Duck with neck problems

Vet is not really an option. He is still hanging on. He is drinking and we help by holding his head up when he does get enough strength he waves it back and forth. No idea just lots of tlc for now.

    Duck with neck problems

Our male Rouen duck was attacked by something. He cannot lift his head and you can feel small bones sticking up against the skin on one side. He is strong otherwise and will drink when I put water on the ground next to him. Is this something he can recover from or should he be put down?

    Duck eggs

Thank you for replying, we do not lock our chickens/ducks up at night they put themselves to bed in a coop. The ducks prefer to hang out under a bush but the information is good. I can take a walk each morning and look.

    Duck eggs

I have newish ducks one female one male. We do not want to raise baby ducks although they are adorable and fun. When is it too late to grab the eggs. They will not start laying until around August. I have a concern about hiding the laying spot, our chickens have started doing that.
