I have a sick hen, Miss Bitey the Speckled Sussex.
She's gone lame in her right leg, breathing a little labored. She had a huge poop and it had a three inch long roundworm in it.
Any suggestions or recommendations for deworming for my girl?
I want to get some new Brahmas but I'm not sure where to go to find some?
I live in Oregon (Silverton) and I'm not sure if there are places still going on during pandemic time that have bird shows.
I can't seem to get really any straight answers about their HEIGHT and WEIGHT.
I have a female who is only two weeks old and I'd like to know if I can pair her with my Light Brahma Rooster eventually.
Is this normal? He's not that old and he's begun to crow.
He was born April 24th 2020, so 2 months 2 weeks old.
I thought he was coughing at first, then he let out this horrible sound. I watched him to make sure he wasn't sick. Then I heard him do a little more clear crow. Now he loves to do...
Chicks sure love shiny eyeballs. They also love nostrils and earholes.
My grandma had gotten pecked in the eye by a curious chick and it caused a bleed but she got better. The baby meant no malicious intent.
My young chicks like to stick their faces into my ears for some reason and grind their...
I had a cockerel who was quite small attacked by a hawk right before my eyes. Slammed into his back. I ran off the hawk and discovered that both of his legs weren't working.
His legs got better in about a week or so and he became a healthy rooster.
Keep an eye on your babe and give them some...
So I had gotten these hens from another owner. She kept them on a wire cage floor and two out of the eight quail hens got this bumblefoot.
I have been trying to cure it and when I think it is about healed, it comes back and this time it has come back aggressive on one of my ladies.
I have...
I have:
Miss Bitey - Speckled Sussex
Crazy Legs - Blue Leghorn
Barbara - Light Brahma
Foggy Leghorn - Blue Leghorn
Miss Snugs - Delaware
Zebra - Barred Rock
Raspberry - Delaware
Raspberry, Zebra and Miss Snugs hanging out with Quail.
Her name is Barbara.
She's about eight weeks old now, getting tall.
She began to roost on a homemade branch roost about two weeks ago and I discovered very recently that her breast bone appears to be kind of curved to one side.
Is there something I need to do for her? Will this correct itself...
So I adopted nine quail hens, kind of rescued from their previous owner.
Yesterday one became eggbound. She showed the obvious signs of being eggbound.
Her vent had actually come OUT with the egg, it was like her exit was way too small or the egg was way too big.
She pushed so hard and caused...
The Quail are getting big.
Here is Pinenut. Very sweet baby.
She will let you hold her for five mealworms. A deal if you ask me.
And lastly... Sleepy time.
Any blanket you don't feel attached to lol.
I took a fluffy fleece coat I had and cut it apart and it did pretty well for them. Now I use an old snuggy. But your chicks will love it.
You need to bind the chick's legs with soft self-adhesive medical wrap.
(Drawn by yours truly)
The chick won't like this but it will help correct the legs. The soft wrap won't hurt the skin or joints.
Make sure you don't wrap the joints in the binding.
This is the kind of stuff but you can...
