Update***
Silver has been back outside with the rest of the flock and is doing great. We're having a few "mean girl" issues with everyone re-establishing pecking order. She's still being a bit of a prima donna, and reluctantly eating her feed if I don't give her any thawed pease. :)
I...
Silver continues to improve! Her stools are pretty solid now, energy is good and she's happily eating thawed peas. I'm still syringe feeding her, as she's still not interested in eating her feed. I let her out in the yard to visit the rest of the flock (at a distance) and she joyfully greeted...
Update -- Silver wasn't showing much improvement on Saturday, so I took her back to the vet. I'm now feeding her Oxbow Critical Care Herbivore feeding formula by syringe. Today she has really perked up and actually made a few pretty normal stools, but she's not eating on her own, other than...
I took Silver back to the vet yesterday because she wasn't improving and actually seemed a bit worse. The vet prescribed Flagyl (fully explained) and gathered a fecal sample. Fecal floatation is negative for parasites, but we're still waiting on results for Giardia.
She's still not eating on...
The vet prescribed Panacur as a dewormer for 3 days. She recommended regular feed, and Gatorade or Pedialyte instead of water to replenish electrolytes.
We'll see how it goes. Silver doesn't appear to be eating much, but she is drinking and her energy is good.
One of my ducks was acting withdrawn and not eating on Saturday. I separated her from the flock and monitored her for about 24 hours. She still was not eating and barely drinking. Then she passed bright green diarrhea, so I took her to the vet. Exam revealed that she was not egg bound. They...
She is just exploring her limits and trying to figure out what is food and what itsn't. One of my ducklings went through a phase like that. If she bites again, you can gently hold her beak closed and say NO. She should get the message quickly.
If it's reliably above 50 at night, it should be fine to keep them outside.
As for the pool, toss in some peas or greens, and they should be eager to go in.
I'm new to ducks, having three seven-week-old Anconas. I'm raising them organically, so I am feeding a lot of herbs from my own garden.
I have a ton of chives growing in the garden, but I've read conflicting information about feeding them to ducks. I know they're in the onion family, but...
