This year, with the price of eggs so high, we decided to do a different approach. I ran off a copy of a cute basket with blank eggs (like a coloring book) and everyone had access to crayons. It took us all back to our childhood and everyone had a great time coloring their eggs. I hung my...
I used to have a lot more birds come to my feeders, but I blame the weather patterns - so they are probably going farther west from me. I am the only person with habitat on my road, so I blame that, too. People need to plant more bird-friendly plants for food and shelter.
i was down at my creek and saw a rattler slowly undulating in the water....so I shot it with my trusty little .22 rifle...it hissed, and then went limp, because it was an inflatable snake my neighbor had tied to a stick by the bank to keep their cows from wandering....oh well....
Looks nice - however, I would not want to collect eggs during the rain, as the upper roof would simply shed the water onto my head when standing at the nest boxes outside.
Has anyone used one of these?

I thought it might work well as an outdoor sanding area for my chickens, as it would be durable and I could close the top in bad...
There are three big windows (2' x 4', 4'x4' and 3'x4') on three separate sides of the coop (which is 8x8) as well as the vent across the top of the coop (about 8" high all across the top), and the lower vent, which also goes all the way across about 7' up. And there is ventilation from the pop...
I have a wood floor, no bedding yet, and the overhangs are 2'. I used a paint that was also supposed to have mold-resistant particles in it. I am very disappointed so far.
I painted 3 coats of KILZ on my chicken house walls before putting up the last yellow enamel coat.
Earlier this year, when I went into the coop, I noticed a thin mold on the walls. I have a lot of
ventilation, so don't understand this....we did get over 40" of rain during this time...
I'm thinking of putting my feeder outside, so it would have to be reasonably waterproof....and I have seen feeders with stoppers to close to keep out rodents. I'm more concerned with the reviews that say their chickens get "stuck" in some of them.
I've been researching the various automatic (PVC) feeders for chickens, and so many people complain about their chickens ripping out feathers, the feed gets wet, the chickens crawl inside and die.....which one is the best for most flocks of adult chickens?
I made an inexpensive collar for my cats so when the birds are trying to hatch their eggs, so they are not pounced on and eaten/injured. Anyone can make one of these - just put some colorful zip ties around the regular collar (making sure it is a quick release) and it throws off the cat's...
I would install a flashing light on a motion sensor. Talk to your neighbors and ask them if they'd rather have a light that comes on to warn everyone of a possible bear attack, or just wait until it breaks into their house.
