How old are they? I haven't had issues with pecking order mixing sizes if they are all raised and brooded together. I think the standard precautions remain if you are mixing older birds. Good luck!
I have a Buff Brahma bantam roo that needs a new home as we live in Chicago. Local pickup only or I can drive to the suburbs to meet you. He is sweet, was raised in the house and is very tame. Pet home only with birds his own size, sorry no current pic but he's completely feathered out and...
Anyone have suggestions for the best bantam breed that lays a dark chocolate colored egg like welsummers and marans? Thanks!
Photos of breeds and the eggs they lay would be helpful!
We are looking for two more bantam hens, preferably under a year old within the Chicago area. Will drive up to an hour out of the city to meet you. Please email with breed, age, and a photo if possible. We'd also like to add to our Coturnix quail flock, let us know what you have. Thanks...
I've had eggs and chickens stolen from me, but I live in a city and there's no lock on the gate. People will help themselves to whatever they want if no one is there to stop them...
Anything along the lines of Dual Purpose breeds such as Rhode Islands, standard Cornish, any of the Rock varieties, etc would work. Many hatcheries offer variety packs of chicks consisting of only heavy meaty breed roosters for very cheap. Check out http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/all_heavies.html
Looking for adult Coturnix of any color less than a year old for pick up in the chicago area. We need 4 males and 8 females. Will drive within an hour of downtown chicago or meet halfway. Thanks!
You can use the polymycin for about 10-14 days, you should see a noticeable difference in about a week. Keep them quarantined for a minimum of 4 weeks: that's the standard rule. Any less than that runs the risk of missing the signs of other problems.
First of all it's fine if two hens share a nest. I had two silkies team up as well and it worked every time. As for the new eggs in the nest, they may or may not make it. Try candling them in a week, there should be noticeably more development in the older eggs than the younger, then you can...
Pullet. The barring is indicative of female, the males have narrower stripes. She's just healthy and happy, which is why the red comb. The comb and waddles would be way larger at this age already.
