The SFs are 1-year old. It is just odd that they are loosing the feathers on their backs. My other chickens have molted in the fall but they typically loose feathers all over.
Hi,
I have six chickens (no rooster), two of which are Salmon Faverolles (I also have a Cream Legbar, a White Leghorn, a Speckled Sussex, and a Maran). One of the Salmon Faverolles used to have the traditional muffs when she was little but the other chickens are "grooming" her so she has had a...
The run is 5 ft wide, 10 fee long and 6 ft high. The coop is 3 ft off the ground and 3 by 3 ft. They always sleep on the outdoor roosts, never in the coop.
Thanks for the reply. They get Purina Layer pellets, crushed egg shells, daily fresh water, veggie and fruit scraps from the kitchen and mealworms for treats. The chicken coop with an attached run is designed for 6 - 8 chickens and there are a number of roosts and a good size dust bath. The hens...

Hi - I have 14 week old Cockoo Maran that I got from the local feed store as a baby chick. While they were sold 90% female, I am getting a bit suspicious on this one. Any insights / opinions on the gender (she does not crow but her tail feathers have become a bit long in the last 2 weeks). Thanks
Hi, here are two more pictures of the two SFs now at 8 weeks. They look like pullets but would love experts to weigh in. One has muffs, the other one does not. Thanks
Hi,
I have 2 Salmon Faverolles chicks that are supposed to be pullets. They are 6 weeks old and appear to be darker than what I was expecting. Any thoughts on if they are indeed female. Thanks
Hi, I have two Salmon Faverolles that are 4 weeks old. I am curious if anyone has any thoughts on their gender. I was told they were both female. Thanks
