    Slipped Tendon Treatment

I just got a duck from a lady who needed to rehome hers. One of the ducks has a slipped tendon. The lady took the duck to a vet, but no vet in my town has any duck experience, so they had no idea how to treat it. The duck is about 3 months old. Does anyone have an advice on how to treat it? I...

Raptor Attacked Duck, Any Tips to Deter Them?

I was in my house working when I heard my hens making noise. I looked out my window to see one of my male call ducks being attacked by a light brown bird. I thought it was my older Ameraucana hen, so I went to outside to break it up. When I got outside, I made some noise as that usually gets my...

Chicken trying to Kill my Duck

Introductions can be tricky. I have had to intro ducks to ducks, chickens to chickens, and ducks to chickens several times, and the best way I have found to do this is to lock them up together at night. I have a wooden box that my ducks spend the night in and a wooden chicken coup that the...

    New Gosling drooling.

I’ve had ducklings who have done that before. My ducklings would take a drink and then fling water from their beaks when they are done. I’ve never had any problems with my ducklings. If your gosling does it after it drinks, it’s probably just a bit of water still in it’s beak and is nothing to...

    Duck with Angel Wing

I’m taking in a female Cayuga duck with Angel Wing. I’ve been doing some research on how to fix it, but I’m not finding anything consistent. For example, I’ve read that it can’t be fixed when the bird is 16 weeks or older, but I’ve watched videos on how to wrap the wing in proper position, and...

    Rescue Duck Breed?

No problem! Remember to clip her wings whenever she starts flying again, I usually clip my ducks’ wings every four to six months. It’s great that she enjoys your company; I have ten ducks and they all run away from me!! Enjoy her a lot.

    Rescue Duck Breed?

As FishMtFarm already said, you have a beautiful Muscovy. She looks very similar to one of my late Nuscovies. Just to let you know, my Muscovy flies all the time so, if you do not want her to fly, you might want to look into clipping her wings. There are some great videos on YouTube. As for...

    Chickens and hot weather

I’m sorry that you lost your rooster. I’ve lost 6 birds since I got my first flock of chickens and ducks two and a half years ago. I know how tough and sad it is to lose one. I researched a lot throughout the few years that I’ve had my birds. A things I learned is that cold and frozen veggies...

    Dime sized egg?

I believe that is an egg from a bird, not one of your hens. I have had wild birds lay eggs in my chicken nesting boxes and they have all been about that size.

What is wrong with this hen?

Reintroduced her to the flock last night. The pecking order has been re-established and everyone is leaving each other alone. Thank you all for your help!

So much food waste! HELP! (Pic)

I have seen on Pinterest that you can make feeders out of PVC pipe that prevents a lot of the food waste. Chickens naturally scratch the ground when they eat, so they kick the food out.

    My Swedish? (pretty sure Swedish)

If they are Swedish, then they are probably Blue Swedish. Blue Swedish are a blue color, which would most likely explain the blue color.

    Hurt Canadian Duck! Need Advice!

I’m not sure what could be wrong. I would recommend calling a wildlife rehabilitation center or a local waterfowl or bird rescue and see if they can help. A predator could find the goose as an easy meal since the goose won’t go into the lake. I would call a wildlife rehabilitation center or...

What is wrong with this hen?

I just locked up my birds for the night and she was walking (with a limp) around my run wanting to go in to go to bed. Her eyes are completely open and I plan on starting to reintroduce her to the flock tomorrow or the next day. I’ll keep you all updated.

What is wrong with this hen?

She’s a lot more active, she keeps walking out of the box I am keeping her in to eat. The eye that was gunky is starting to open. She doesn’t look miserable anymore.

What is wrong with this hen?

I was thinking it was a bug bite or sting or pecking but the last thing I want to do is keep her with my other birds if she has or developes something that can spread to my other birds, so I don’t want her near them until she heals. Once she heals I will start reintroducing her to the rest of my...

What is wrong with this hen?

Her left eye is open, she is eating, and she walked herself outside the wooden box I have her in (with a limp but still more movement than she has had in the last two days). This update isn’t big in quantity, but her improvement is huge and I’ll keep this post as updated as I can! Thank you all...

What is wrong with this hen?

She has been limping for about a week now. The swelling started yesterday. I can’t tell you the last time she laid an egg, I have 13 hens who all lay when I’m at work. She doesn’t have any swelling, bloat or feeling of fluid in the abdomen. The Benedryl is to help reduce the swelling.

What is wrong with this hen?

Her left eye has opened when I checked her today. I gave her another half a benedryl. I’ll post another update this afternoon.

What is wrong with this hen?

She doesn’t have bumble foot. They’re not really getting pick on (she has only been picked on for being weak and this started yesterday). I don’t know why they don’t have head feathers.
