I have one hen that's egg always has the air cell on the side on egg instead of bottem. Makes for poor hatching. Any ideas why this happens? Never heard of all eggs from one hen being like this!
I purchased eggs from a lady with gorgeous BCM's that lay a dark, dark egg. Quite a few of the birds devoped brown on their feathers as they are growing out...this is a picture of one of the worst ones,,,she is about 6 weeks. what would cause this???

@amunk01 i am on my first test hatch! i just set a dozen eggs yesterday. i had a bit or trouble getting the temp comsistant all through the wine cooler. i am still not sure why. there would be some hot spots and some cooler spots but if i moved the unit around it would change...im thinking it...
ok, so i think i hit a snag...my plan was to install fan/heater at the top of the back false wall...with air flowing up the back and out through the fan/heat...well now i see the fan/heater has a backplate on it so it wont work that way....does anyone have any ideas how i can install it to the...
im planning on building an incubator out of a wine cooler, measures 31 high, 22 deep and 19 wide. the incukit heaters now come in 125 watts. would that be sufficient to heat that area does anyone know? i could use 2, but then thats just more expense (they arent that cheap!) if i dont have to...
i have eggs that are due to hatch next thurs, the 28th. i have 30 eggs, a mix of cream legbars, svart honas, light sussex and 2 ameraucana eggs from my sister. ive candled twice and taken out 8 eggs that werent developing.
i just keep a container in the freezer, adding veggie and fruit scraps and leftovers as well as rice etc. when full add water and freeze solid and give to them. keeps them busy for quite sometime! i use a large yogurt container
i also planted a bed of lettuce and bed of kale for my chickens. they really love the kale, so as things are finishing up in the garden i just toss in some kale seeds to the empty beds. they will soon have a ton of kale.
i also make veggicicles with any leftovers, just keep an empty comtainer in...
