Just a standard solid wood fence, yeah the upper is probably suitable enough for a chicken to want to perch. I guess il just have to trial and error and if I do see the chickens trying to fly up onto the fence get a wire mesh installed.
Just wanted to ask after a while do cats end up bonding with chickens? Chase any other cats that may want to prey on them? I have loads of neighbourhood cats roaming the area although I doubt they are a threat, the only threat would be the foxes at night but il have the chickens all locked up in...
Appreciate the advice, my cat is a wimp won’t even go for a pigeon. Was just worried in terms of the fact a chicken can’t fly away too fast, was just wondering what breed would be best to be big enough not to get attacked but docile enough to make good pets and don’t mind being in a smaller...
My cat is quite small for an adult cat, most likely smaller than a few chicken breeds. Below is a picture next to a normal sized football. If I get a bigger chicken breed surely it won’t attack it right?
Hi this is my first post after about 6 years, just about remembered my log in details lol. Used to own chickens around 7-8 years ago they were small pekin bantams raised them from chicks and had them for around 3-4 years until unfortunately they died after we introduced new chickens to the flock...
Thanks for all the replies, I have been trying many things and hopefully one works but one of the most recent things I have been trying is adding a slight amount of garlic to the food and water. Is that just a myth or does it work?

Alright thanks for the reply, I was just being overly paranoid and being careful not to let the chickens anywhere near the house thinking that the whole house would be infested with mites. Also about the mite situation I have been trying many techniques to get rid of them and Im about to try...
I currently have a mite situation going on and I am trying my best to get rid of them but I was wondering whether they can enter the home and If they can can they cause problems such as irritation to humans and cause long term problems?
Hi guys I just wanted to ask what do you look at when identifying a roo? Because I always tend to look at the legs and body posture but I wonder if anyone else does that?
Im actually going through a mite situation at the moment too and Im trying everything I can do In my power going to the shop and getting every type of Anti-Mite powder or product they have. Im completely covering the coop in Mite-Powder and the shop even sells "Mite bombs" which you just throw...
I had a feeling the layer feed wasn't right for them but I haven't seen any problems with their health and they seem happy. right I will keep that in mind and try and get them on a different feed until they start laying.
I had a bantam cochin rooster and he was only the size of one hand but he was a feisty little fella, managed to chase my mum from the garden past the kitchen all the way to the living room :gig
had to give him away 3 weeks later :hit
