Ok, I got this hen at the Newnan Poultry Show. I remember telling me that she was 5/6 months old but she looks so younger then that and I don’t want to feed her layer food if she younger in 6 months
They said that she was a frizzy Cochin mixed with a normal Cochin.

What a cutie! ❤️ Is she your only one?
Hens don’t need layer feed as long as you provide oyster shell in a separate containe. She is definitely ready to start having it now. Best wishes and have lots of fun with her!

5/6 months looks about right. She won't need layer feed until she starts laying. Age has nothing to do with when to switch to layer feed. She still needs to be on chick/grower feed.

Agree completely with @Gray Farms

However, she may not need as much calcium as what's in layer feed, looking at how small she is. You could give her all flock and offer oyster shell on the side, so she can regulate herself.

Ok, I’ll go out and pick some up some grower food, that’s why I wanted to ask to double check thank you so much!
