Give her free choice oyster shell and she will be fine on the medicated feed. No need to worry. If she was on it for an extened period of time her egg shells would thin but the oyster shell will take care of that.

Make sure they are drinking and eating. Dip their beaks in the water and make sure they are in a draft free area that is kept at 90 degrees. If they are day old chicks. Drafts will kill them.

My suggestion would to give her some sugar water and some vitamin drops. Is she eating at all? Does her crop feel hard? Try and feel around her vent for anything that might indicate that shes eggbound. If so get her into a warm tub of water and let her soak for a little bit and that should...

They go broody when ever they feel the need. But you cant make them and you cant predict it either. So far all my broodies have been BO's but their almost a year old too.

Just make sure to leave a heatlamp on for the chicks.....but I think mamma hen will do a great job of mothering them and keep them warm.

I think that I can answer your question. I had 7 roosters in a pen area seperate from the rest of my flock of hens and sure enough yes they will. They take one of the roosters thats lowest on the pecking order and make him a hen. Now I dont think that will happen if there is access to hens...

Well it finally happened......We got our first egg. Something that looked like it may never happen. We think we know who laid it because she was the one over the last few days has spent time going in and out of the nest boxes and even had "Big Guy" our rooster showing her what to do in the box.

I would try Fake eggs in the nest boxes to entice them to lay.....other than that make them feel at home and welcome..... The sooner they feel comfortable the sooner they will lay for you. I hear that talking to them helps too.....maybe just helps you but it still helps.
