Get rid of a drake or add ducks?

Hmm... It looks like Qwackers may have to go. Are drakes as hard to rehome as roosters?

Get rid of a drake or add ducks?

Thanks for the reply! How many ducks would we need to add? And would their space be adequate for the bit of time they are confined?

Get rid of a drake or add ducks?

So, this is my first experience with ducks. We got four ducklings on April 14th- 2 khaki Campbell’s, 2 “mallards”(they seem awfully big to me). We ended up with two pair. Has anyone had any luck with this ratio? Should we get rid of one of the drakes? Or should we add more ducks? Their house is...

    Things to do with horse?

I ride English or western depending on the horse (thoroughbreds look goofy in a western, lol). I don’t think either one is harder than the other. I love them both and bareback too (also not for thoroughbreds- too boney). Trail rides are the best!

Very new to this! Anxious but excited!

Sounds like your ready to go! I may have a few tips with having little kiddos and chickens. Muck boots (rain boots work) are great! All of us wear only our “muck” boots in the coop and run. The take them off and leave them on our covered porch. So there’s no chicken poo on our floors for the...

    Is this bumblefoot?

The spots are not hard or anything, just discolored. She has no symptoms. This was found on a routine check.

    Advice Needed, Eye Injury!

Update: This little girl is doing much better!!! Honestly, I think bulging eye would’ve been a more accurate description. I stumbled across pics that looked more like her problem when I used that description. She still has her eye, yay! I really thought she’d lose it (maybe she still could)...

Chickens live in flocks. She is lonely and needs company. Could you find a friend about the same age for her?

Looking For A Run I Can Add To My Coop/Run Area

We repurposed 4’ wooden snow fence. It’s held up with used green stakes (from horse fence), attached with zip ties. We have bird netting above. We did have one hen that would fly out on her own every day and had to clip her wings. -there’s currently no snow, btw.

Water dish issues with my new chicks!

I’d raise it as high as you can with them still being able to get to it. I use bricks with chicks and concrete block (1 1/2 blocks high) with the big kids.

    Feed questions...

Update: I ended up getting one more 50lb bag of nutrena starter/grower. That will last 4 weeks- they’ll be 8 weeks old then. Burdens recommends All-flock for 7 weeks and up.

HELP!!! New Duckling from Mail Order losing Balance

I’m so sorry! I’m too new to ducks to be helpful, but I think she may be okay with chicks for now. We’re brooding 8 chicks an four ducks together-nuts, I know. We have a 5’x7’ play yard for them outside. Since the ducks are hardier (and so messy), we often take just the ducks outside if it’s...

We had the same problem! The Colonel was going after my son (he was 3 too)! We got rid of him. Fortunately the man we bought him from was willing to take him back. Cooper is his replacement. The breeder pick him for us based on temperament. She couldn’t have pick a better bird!
