Chicks shedding lots of intestinal lining

Does it matter that they’re already on the medicated feed when it comes to giving them Corid? I know if they’re vaccinated against coccidiosis you shouldn’t give medicated feed, I’m not sure if that matters with Corid though.

Chicks shedding lots of intestinal lining

I’ve never used Corid. Could you tell me dosage for that? Just purchase it at a local feed store?

Sometimes it’s pink, sometimes, orange, sometimes a cherry red. And it’s stringy like intestinal tissue.

Chicks shedding lots of intestinal lining

Hi all, I have 3 chicks that are nearly 11 weeks old and this is my first time raising chicks. A week and a half ago they all started passing quite a bit of intestinal lining in their droppings. I took some fecal samples in to the vet and they came back negative for parasites. I had the test...

    Cozy coop panel heater

Hey there, I found this page about the mama heating pad. It’s something you basically build, but it doesn’t look too hard. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/mama-heating-pad-in-the-brooder-picture-heavy-update.956958/page-46 Scroll down to the user post “Beekissed”. They have pics and...

    Cozy coop panel heater

I was thinking the panel would get too hot for the chicks but I wasn’t sure. I was just reading about the mama heating pad. It sounds much better and safer so I’m going to look into that. Thank you guys

    Cozy coop panel heater

Hello all, I will be getting baby chicks this year for the first time. I have never raised chickens before. I have heard that they need a heat lamp, but I know the risks for fire and would like to avoid that. I have a cozy coop panel heater and was wondering if that would work? Has anyone used...

    Blood in poop

Ok, got the results back from the fecal test. She’s negative for everything! No coccidia, no worms, no infestation, yay! I feel so much better having a definitive result. The vet thinks that she’s not getting enough water before bedtime and said to encourage her to drink more and see if there is...

    Blood in poop

Ok, so just to be safe I'm going to have a fecal test done. Luckily, there is one vet in my area who treats chickens and I have an appointment for an exam and fecal test for Tuesday morning. I'll keep you guys posted with the findings. Thanks for all your help so far.

    Blood in poop

Thank you guys for the reply. I think she just started laying 3 weeks ago. I don't see any trauma or redness around her vent. This happened before, about 10 days ago. She is acting normal and eating/drinking fine. Perhaps I'll have to get ahold of a vet around here and see if they can do a fecal...

    Blood in poop

Hi, I'm completely new to keeping chickens and I had a question about some droppings. Sometimes when I let my hen out of the coop in the morning, she poops a large pile of droppings (large compared to her droppings during the day). This is the second time there has been what looks like blood in...

    Heating a chicken coop

Thank you very much for the reply! Very helpful info. I also have one panel on each side that opens near the roof for ventilation. About a 3"x3" opening.

    Heating a chicken coop

I am hoping to get 1 more chicken in February for just this reason, but until then I was wondering if she would be ok. She's a barred rock and is supposed to be cold hardy, but I don't know what temps she can withstand. Also, some other people were mentioning a flat panel radiant desk leg...

    New to all this stuff

Hi there! Yes I am planning on getting one more chicken this spring so she has a buddy. I sit outside with her for a few hours in the morning and evening to keep her company throughout the day.
