Hi all,

I have 3 chicks that are nearly 11 weeks old and this is my first time raising chicks. A week and a half ago they all started passing quite a bit of intestinal lining in their droppings. I took some fecal samples in to the vet and they came back negative for parasites. I had the test done twice on different samples just to be sure, but the test said they're all clear, no parasites, coccidiosis, giardia, etc. All last week it was pretty much every dropping had the lining in it, no blood though, and the texture was normal - all nice firm, solid poops. Yesterday and today I would say about half of the droppings have the lining in them and a little bit of mucus as well. They are all acting fine, eating, drinking and playing around. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? The vet didn't seem too concerned and said it might just be them growing or their tummies adjusting. Thanks in advance for any insight!

They are on Purina Medicated Starter Feed and they have an electrolyte/probiotic powder in their water as well that is made fresh daily.

I'm glad you got the fecals tested and were negative. :D
What are you feeding them? They should be fed chick starter. If you are giving anything else other than chick starter, I would stop and see if the intestinal lining issue clears up.

This.... Hope you figure out what's the issue!!

When you say "intestinal lining", what exactly do you mean? Can you post a picture?

Sometimes it’s pink, sometimes, orange, sometimes a cherry red. And it’s stringy like intestinal tissue.

If you are seeing red I would start Corid asap.
I just recently had fecals come back negative AND I clearly saw worms!

That doesnt surprise me. I've had that happen as well.
I agree, it would be best for Keelio to get her birds started on corid. However since Keelio's birds are on medicated chick starter, I'd go with SMZ/TMP if the corid is ineffective after 5 days of treatment.
