Why yes, that is a baby monitor on my table (I'm 63)

A fox came right into my yard Saturday morning, the hens were free ranging under supervision. I heard the ruckus and gave chase. The hen she'd grabbed was quite shook and sans some feathers but is okay. Fox came back this morning to see if it could breach the coop and they let me know. But what...

    Why are people so weird?

Despite being on my own, I have 10 hens and a 40'x 80' garden because I love both endeavors and having something great to share with friends and those in need feels good to me. That said, if I can't train them to recycle the cartons after one or two tries, I just don't share with them anymore...

    I Have a Fox Problem

Are you going to trap all the foxes, raccoons, skunks, etc. that come by your property forever? Not realistic or very nice. If you want to have chickens, you need to predator proof their setup.

It was cute but when I finished their permanent coop last month they all transitioned to it, then after a week or so I started...

    My Golden Phoenix

Wow, thanks so much for all the information Pork Pie! The flock is now living in an unused utility room right now, but the coop is almost done. It is a castle. Well, an old pump house that has become a chicken castle. They are starting to wander off my 2 acres, so they will have to be...

    My Golden Phoenix

Her name is Marlena. The others are Audrey, Sophia, Marilyn, Mae West, Raquel and Natalie, who turned out to be a rooster, so I named him Handsome, because he is so. I had company last week, and Marlena was not hesitant in the least to do her thing. They were amazed! So fun.

    My Golden Phoenix

I'm new to adding chickens to my family and can't believe I didn't do it sooner. I selected 4 great layers and a couple of ornamental chickens, but this "ornamental" Golden Phoenix is my best layer and so unique. Every day she pecks on the sliding glass door (they free range during the day)...
