My 1 year old Easter Egger laid her first egg after the winter but it came out a little funny. I think it’s just a strange dud egg but does anybody know what this actually is? I’m not worried but just really curious on what happened. But if there is something I should worry about please tell me...
I checked her feet again for Bumblefoot and didn't notice any scabs or the starting of a scab. I'll definitely put her somewhere to rest and see if the swelling gets any better. Thank you so much! EDIT: There's no swelling in her other foot/ankle.
The hawks most likely won't lose interest when they get older. I'm able to free range since my chickens have easy access to cover. There's a chance the hawks might leave once they learn there's no way to get the chickens. The hawks will still go after the chickens once they're older they just...
Hello! My two year old Partridge Rock is currently suffering from a swollen foot and a bump on her foot. I noticed this a while ago and checked her feet for bumblefoot but there was no scab. There’s still no scab to indicate bumblefoot. Just recently I’ve noticed it’s given her problems while...
Sorry for being so silent lately on the subject. By the time the vet had responded they thought it was too late to glue it back. They had just recommended to keep spraying it with Vetericyn. We kept her separated for a few more days and spraying Vetericyn on it a couple of times a day. The wound...
We got her wrapped up and will be calling a vet Monday and seeing if they’ll take a chicken. Everybody is closed on the weekends and I’m hoping Corona doesn’t get them shut down on the week days.
All of our local vet offices are closed and won’t open until tomorrow. The 24/7 ones will just be too expensive for us. I will be calling a local one first thing in the morning tomorrow. We don’t have antibiotics but I am keeping it as clean as possible without stressing her out. I am sorry if I...
UPDATED PHOTOS
I have better photos. Plus good news and 2 parts of bad news. Kinda Bad News: First part, I sprayed blu kote on it when it first happened (because I was scared of others pecking her) so you can’t tell how it really looks. Wish I hadn’t of done that :/ Second part, she accidentally...
Thank you. I’m going to discuss these options over with my brother and see what he thinks the best option would be. He’s more experienced than me. I’ll keep posting updates in case anyone else is interested in the outcome.
Sorry for the lock of photos she doesn't like to stay still and I can't get better ones until my extra help comes back. But I will post some extra ones from yesterday. If we closed it up I'm scared it will get infected but that seems like the best available option. What glue do you recommend and...
She’s still active. Eating, drinking and acting normal. The flap of skin appears swollen. We didn’t see any damage to her crop or other organs. We have her separated. The vet isn’t an option. Still spraying it with Vetericyn but we can order Chlorhexidene 2%. Any other advice? We might just have...
I walk outside to get the girls water and I notice my Easter egger has a strip of skin flapping on her neck. I have no clue how it happened; my best guess is she got caught on something. She’s acting completely normal; not lethargic and she’s drinking and eating fine. Even running away when I...
One of my polish chicks has been being pecked on the head by the other chicks. The other polish isn't being pecked. How do I get them to stop pecking her head? Is Blu Kote safe for chicks? I also want to see if ya'll agree that this is just a bruise on her head. Sorry for the bad photo I can get...
