Unfortunately I found out this morning she has been pecked by three others.
which makes it difficult to crate the bullys
She had mite few months back (when I went away and a friends was lookign after the flock) and I treated her and the flock and since they are OK. I check regularly.
I also...
I will post some pics of the setup, but I am not sure it is a huge problem.
This morning I put the bullied hen back in while the bully was laying to see reactions and other 2 hens started running towards the bullied to peck her. She was only running away.
They stopped only if I was there and...
Hello,
I need some advice on what to do.
One of my chicken badly pecked another hen and it was the first time.
I came home yesterday and I found the bullied with blood all over her comb.
The hens have been together for almost 2 years now.
I used to have 6, but a couple of weeks ago one died...

I couldn't see moving bugs on her skin but seen eggs - many - and some (maybe dead) bugs, i.e. I could see few but they were not moving.
So, as some of you said, the product I am using won't work on eggs.
What should I do to get rid of the eggs? Maybe the eggs are dead but still there?
Should...
The hen hasn't been laying in 10 months but her posture was normal until before I went away, i.e. a month ago. Only since I came back and found lice she spends time on her belly and has a weird posture.
She might have a reproductive issue but now she definitely has lice. Not sure the 2 things...

She is almost 2 y and a half.
She is not laying but she hasn't laid since she moulted 10 months ago.
Her posture has improved in the past week, but still odd.
Her belly seems Ok, not swollen nor bloated.
She dust bathes. She is also spending a lot of time seated on her belly.
I might try the...
Hello,
I was away for 4 weeks and when I came back on of my chickens had a very weird posture.
She was slow and walking with her bottom/belly almost on the ground and I noticed some feathers were missing in the belly area.
After a close inspection I found a mite/lice infestation - a very bad...
Hello,
One of my hen has started limping this morning.
I inspected the foot and underneath and it seems OK.
She is active, eating normally and running toward me when I go to the coop, so her mood is great as usual. She also jumps on the rocks and wood in the run. Obviously she is in pain...
Sorry it wasn't a snail, it was a slug (without shell). Normally she was eating those but when with the other chooks, she is not the fastest and not top of the pecking order, so she normally get in later, which makes hard to tell whether she sees it properly or follow the others.
Certainly the pullet is not blind, but it seems to me like dhe cannot see clearly to aim properly at things including food.
I will try to make a video and post it.
Today she was more active with the chick, which was encouraging!
Thanks!
Hi,weird question, but ...
I was wondering if anybody had experience with a pullet with sight problems and how to be sure.
I had issues with my broody hatching eggs - long story short - 2 chicks died because I believe she pecked them by mistake and 2 chicks I put under her had to be rescued...
I got 4 fertile eggs and popped under them at once, so it shouldn't be a staggered hatch.
Last time I had a broody she hatched all 6 eggs on day 21.
I will wait and fingers crossed.
Hello!
After having broke them 4 times I then decided to give fertile eggs to my 2 broody chooks.
Only 2 viable eggs were left.
1 started hatching yesterday day 21, there was a crack. This morning still a crack and some dried blood. Then this afternoon I found the egg almost crushed with a dead...
Good luck.
The pullets have been broody for 3 weeks and decided to give them eggs in the end.
The previous time the other broody kept sitting on the eggs when I changed her spot and put her in a broody box.
Tonight I moved the box in a different spot and hopefully it will work, fingers...
Hi,
last night I put fertile eggs under my 2 broody pullets.
I did move the pullets from the nesting box to a larger box with the eggs at dark.
I hatched chicks once before and it work really well.
Because these are new pullets I got up early this morning to check they were still sitting on...
How much distressed they could get?
I would give them eggs to sit on to avoid putting them in the 'breaking' cage, which works but makes them distressed.
