Thank you everyone for your responses. We've discovered that Nugget, the cockerel, is just a little stir crazy when cooped up - despite that it's a huge upgrade from the brooder. We let him and Fiona have some time exploring the full backyard today, and he was super chill....after figuring out...

Ugh... Well, we'll check with our vet as well. If we were to get a few friends for Fiona, what age would be best? I don't want to stay over with the brooder, and she's probably too young to figure out how to cuddle them for their warmth. But I want them to get along.

We're really hoping we won't have to get rid of him, since I raised him from an egg. And he can be really sweet with us, too. I'm just confused why he's suddenly being such a butt munch.

Thanks for the tips! We've checks our local laws and specifically it started that if a rooster is de-crowed that it is okay to keep them in our area. I'm unsure how I feel about that and crow-collars, so hopefully the darker coop will help.

Thankfully, we live in an unincorporated part of San Jose, so we can have a rooster.... If we can keep him quiet.
